So Galchenyuk is a stud because he had a ppg pace over a 20 game sample one time and Simon is a passenger because he only had 8 goals.

The athletic is reporting that VGK are looking at a 2nd rounder and a prospect for Gusev...

They must be getting lowballed if that is all.

Jump all over that. I'd give our 1st (we don't have our second anyways) just to jump the line.

That is a pretty bad write up imo. It makes it seem like Galchenyuk isn’t a downgrade from Kessel.

As much as you would love it to be a downgrade....it is
I do think Galchenyuk could help us just as much “as a group”.

Simon is okay player who is nice to have at $800k. He also scored 8 goals last year while getting a lot of time riding shotgun with elite offensive players. For a team that just traded away a point per game player...I'm not sure his roster spot should be safe.

He's like Marcel Goc to me, a guy with good analytics but just doesnt have enough scoring touch at the NHL level to truly be a top 6 guy... and isn't worth paying more than an ELC.

I mean I don’t advocate for Simon to be on our top 6 but he’s a perfect fit on our 3rd line with Bjugstad and Hörnqvist. He could get a few games as a top 6 if anyone goes down.

anyone see that DKPS article on Kasper Bjorkqvist? holy christ that dude is a beast.
- YouMeAndDupuis9

Is it an open article? I will try to read it. Björkvist is a big body and can skate fine. He’s not overly skilled though. I could see him on the bottom 2 lines for us.

Sadly the Pens don’t own a 2nd this year.

Sounds fair with his high upside and Vegas having horrid leverage for a trade in being unable
to afford him.

This is true, but vegas owns it. Our 1st for Gusev and our 2nd (returned) might be enough to entice them. My biggest problem would be the cap issues next season with him being on the book and the massive amount of RFA's we have that will easily get a raise.
