Hopefully he trades Casey before he blows up like Chris Farley.

No that would be a mistake

Bad news for Flaccoville.

Marner is “a young Skinner, but slightly worse at defense.”

honestly I pray he signs an 8 year deal later

but hypothetically if we are suppose to be better, and we lose marner in 12 months

the 4 draft picks would be better then ours

sometimes you have to think outside the box

I don’t mind thinking outside the box, I just don’t want my upside on the strategy to be based on somebody else writing an offer sheet.

If Paul Hamilton is to be believed, we've never seen a healthy Bogo.

If, and it's a HUGE/YUUGE if, he comes back at 100%, I think he may be worth something. It may be a bag of pucks, but it's better than nothing.

If we've never seen a fully healthy Bogo yet, I doubt we ever will

That's probably true, but it seems like his surgeries haven't been as lengthy as this one.

I also don't really pay attention to his surgery length, so I'm probably wrong.

right now the habs can't do an offer sheet yet, until canes officially match

not sure on the rules, but say we offer sheet marner for 1 year 14 mil
give up the 4 picks if the leafs don't match

someone else offer sheets him from us 12 months later , we get the 4 picks back, hopefully from a team worse then us

just spitballing

It becomes a sticky situation as he then has arb rights too.

At 14 mil you have to qualify him at that price. Now if you elect a team arb and he get 2 yrs @ 15, you’re now in a pickle. If he elects arb you’re in the same pickle.

No way Botts offersheets him for 1yr.

He wants $710k, not a penny less
- jcragcrumple

He has a good case. I'm looking forward to his argument- I only had 1 assist in 16 games and got buried in terms of possession but I also didn't score any goals

5 years at 12M?

Would you do that?

I think Marner wants the same term length as Matthews.

It makes the next few years tough, but that's possibly not Botterill's problem if the team doesn't drastically improve.

I think we need to focus on soldifying the second tier, hopefully on long term good value contracts, before signing another blockbuster deal.

Lock down Sam and Dahlin in their time, shed dead weight and restock with quality, and then grab another superstar as necessary.

I'm not saying it's the best plan, but without having a grandma that operates a nacho cart or telepathic I can't know what the thoughts of Botterill or Krueger are.

You would have to think that with the owners saying that it's time to win, and the glaring needs on the team, there should be something in the works.

Too many days before the season, and too many UFAs still out there. I doubt Risto will be traded before anyone knows where Gardiner goes and the cost. Trading for a forward now, is going to be tough without knowing what teams are truly interested in Risto.

I'd like to think the Ducks would have some interest. Risto is a decent contract value, and we could try to get Rakell (pipe dream), or Henrique.

I would suspect a 2-yr Buchnevich bridge deal to run between 3.5% - 4% of the cap.

That would translate to $2.85m/yr - $3.25m/yr.

He's in the same spot Hayes & Miller were 3 summers ago (all 3 yrs from UFA, all filed for arb, all got 2-yr deals).

Hayes got 3.56%; Miller 3.77%.

I would offer Nylander to the Rags for the rights to Buchnevic, and then offer him 5 years at $4.5M. Get the nice 20goal RW locked down with the kind of stable secondary value I was talking about earlier.

I agree that this is an idea to get behind.

Maybe they are already working on it?

That would be even better.

Because I like and agree with what you posted, I figured a person of your status would figure it out.
