I look at Vesey for a 2021 3rd round pick....that’s not much of a gamble....it’s stuff like that really has me wondering what his plan is.....Dubas didn’t have much space either and he didn’t do too bad
- RatedR80

Dubas has assets to trade.

Vesey would be okay but might as well try for better options in that case.

I hope he is exploring a trade for a guy like Zucker or something along those lines....I don’t think he is done for the summer but I can’t honestly say what his plan is either.....he got his vet back up and some bottom 6 forwards so all that’s left on his to do list this off season is a top 6 guy for Nuge

"I'm not going to do Jesse any favors because he doesn't want to play in Edmonton. The deal has to make sense for the Edmonton Oilers and our team and our fans."

"As far as I'm concerned, he's got some real stock in this industry," Holland said.

"Going forward, I've got to figure out what that stock is. If we don't find something that makes us happy then Jesse is going to have to make a decision where he wants to play next year."

Well I guess if anything he is sticking to his guns on Puju and I applaud him on that

Bahahahahahaha struck a nerve with you guys now did I? Just cause I spit a bit of truth about the fans... and how they react to day one of free agency thinking this team is all but doomed. Morons don’t understand the season doesn’t start until October. And my frank I wish I was Katz Jr.. who wouldn’t want to be worth a couple bill?

1. Makes idiotic nonsensical claim
2. Gets responded to with actual facts
3. Doubles down that his claims are the real facts

We are going to compete for 1st overall yet again. And it is now 9 years since we drafted Taylor Hall 1st overall. This is (frank)ing pathetic. I’m not buying any more merchandise or hockey tickets. I urge everyone else to do the same. Nothing will ever change as long as they keep making money off of us.
- Ihatebrianburke

But but.... we're trying to pre-order our jerseys for #1 next June. Just trying to figure out whether to put BYFIELD or LAFRENIERE on it

HB77 when at all did I say
“Just Cheer harder and everything will work out !! You guys are fanning all wrong!” ??
All I’m saying is I am going to wait until I see this years finished 19/20 roster before I start crying and whining like 90% of the rest of the fans. Is this roster today capable of making the playoffs? FRANK NO. Not even close. But ffs there is still a whole summer to make some moves calm down and don’t put words in my mouth. And really did you all just expect Holland to magically turn this team into a powerhouse in two months? Get real.

powerhouse!? Halfway competent would even be satisfactory.

I don’t care if you choose to wait. You fan how you want.

What I took issue with was saying pessimistic Oiler fans are the worst when In fact it’s the exact opposite. And the proof is their loyalty over decades of mediocrity and much worse.
Said Oiler fans have seen enough to be totally justified in their opinions. And it’s not freaking out. It’s calling a spade a spade.

Also, It’s not putting words in your mouth when you literally implied as much.

I’ll bet anything you said the same about chiarelli for years when the “bad fans” took issue with his moves too

Yes dude, I applaud the Griffin Reinhart and Adam Larrson deals, let’s not forget caggiula for manning. PC was quite possibly the worst GM in history for the limited time he was here. And I never said people shouldn’t be frustrated from what happened in the past, I don’t think people will ever get over some of those deals. (Rightfully so) I just don’t understand why people are pooping down Holland’s throat 2 months into his tenure. That’s all I’m getting at here. Take it as you want.

Hang on Pee wee;

Kenny is up to something. Perhaps packaging Lucic and a top prospect like Bouchard to the Leafs for Nylander and a first. Something like that is about to go down. Take it to the bank and put it in your savings account.

Puljujarvi will get thrown in mixed with something for something also. Oilers fans got two more potentially ground shaking events coming before season starts. Two more months of summer boys and girls.

So quit crying over your burnt toast. We got a new chef in town.

Holland is up to something. If so, be afraid. He’s best when he makes smaller moves. Fear anything that might be “up his sleeve.”

Well Kenny was yapping about getting a 20 goal scorer but prior to saying that he said 5.5 was too rich for Nyquist....I actually got a headache listening to him

Seems like you are the only one with your optimistic point of view. I'm pretty sure everyone else is simply stating their opinions on the activities (or inactivity) to date under Hollands tenure. And, if anything else happens in the next 2 months, I am certain most of these posters will present their opinions, good or bad. Not sure why I should wait 2 months to say I think that choosing Russell over Sekera is idiotic. It's what I think right now (and will in 2 months). The fact that there are still so many fans here, and at the rink, and wearing merchandise around town, despite decades of ineptitude, speaks to the blind loyalty of the fanbase.

While you’re a window licker, people saying this is the end of the world are a bit out to lunch. Still three months left in the off season and a lot can happen. I wouldn’t be optimistic with the current road’s direction but it may turn out better later on.

I believe he actually said “...Certainly we’d like to add another player who has the potential to score 20 goals. We’ll see if we can make that happen.”

Sooo, he might have meant Jurco. Or maybe he said this before resigning Chaisson. Whoever it was, it is likely at the end of the year Bob will advise season ticket holders that this person was the reason the Oil missed the playoffs.

I think it's less that people are poopting down his throat and more that their expectations were raised by the otherwise unnecessary buyout of Sekera that there was something imminent. Following that up with a press conference where he said Nyquist is too much for their budget starts to beg serious questions. In what world is he planning on adding a top-6 forward if 5.5mil is too much? If it's an term/age thing, then say that.

We're quick to doubt because every iteration of management has been plagued by many of the same flaws. Most notably is a self-important arrogance about their "industry knowledge" and a media figurehead (Stauffer) who 'leaks' information to the public ahead of time to soften the blow.

I assure you we're all sympathetic to the fact that it won't get fixed overnight; we've been exemplifying that for more than 10 years. What we're not sympathetic to is low-resolution deflections, corporate double-speak in an effort to assuage the masses and a general holier-than-thou attitude with respect to "information". If their plan was to instill hope by being/appearing different past iterations of Oilers management, then they're failing miserably.

Dude/ why didn’t you just start with this?
It’s like night and day from the first post.
Act rationally and don’t make broad strokes on entire fanbases and you’ll get responded to in kind.

Sh1t, Maybe I’m wrong. I am all the time. And people call Me out all the time for it. It’s cool.
Maybe I am jumping the gun, but I have no issue with someone saying that in the manner you just did.

But also, you’re wrong I’m right ...

His splash is either buying out Sekera, which would have been a bad choice, or he is building up to something. I would think he wants to put his stamp on this team. My guess is a prominent player is moved for another (Nuge or Klefbom/picks for something), moving out Lucic, or revamping the middle six.

Bob needs to go. 100%.

Jurco could be a good middle six forward who may bring 15-20-35 to 20-25-45 but nothing special. Maybe he can target a Bertuzzi or AA from the Wings.

Honesty, if they could accomplish just this and free space etc without taking some equally burdensome deal, I’d even be over the moon on that (it’s not actually making the team tangibly better. )

It’s hard and the oilers are in a tough spot for sure. I’m not oblivious to this.
But I’m not gonna just be ok with “it’s all too hard to make changes”
Fuk that. Make it happen. You’re paid fukloads to do it. And even moreso knowing Connors long term tenure here MAY very well be in jeopardy if we don’t
