I have a feeling JD will make a move either none of us expected or he if does, not in the manner that’s been discussed. Similar to what Trouba cost.

Theres really no need to panic and start being irrational with making 100 more trades. We can, make this work from within. The only exception is if we get a legitimate 2C without bending over backwards for it.

One more substantial trade (Kreider or Buch), dump Nam onto Ottawa (for a 3rd like Vesey) and sign our other RFAs..off season done.

My Take:

Trade Kreider & Namestnakov for picks or pennies on the dollar. Its a numbers game now you have to fit under the cap with the wingers coming in Kreider should become a bottom 6 guys in a year anyway (Panarin, Kakko, Chytil, & Kravtsov) so hes not worth the money. Same with Namestnakov, he doesn't give you anything you cant get from the other Cs on the roster (Zib, Strome, Howden /Lias) from a vlaue perspective he is the odd guy out.

Try at the deadline to move Shatty, Smith and or Staal , although unlikely, just hope one has a decent year and team comes knocking. Buyout is an option but if you can do the above, you wont need to and can do it next year.

Keep Strome, he played well last year and with his offensive ability and the guys on the wings, he could have a phenomenal year offensively with such talent as the #2C.

If you lose ADA so be it. Hes not part of the long term solution anyway and the pipeline is deep on D, hes expendable. You squeeze him for a small deal or let someone offer sheet him and get a pick or two and save money

Not Dumped, but if they cant squeeze him in under the cap, the organization wont cry if he goes

Trouba, Skjei, Fox, Hajek, Lingren, Reunanen are your future after Staal, Shatty and Smith are gone.

- MiloslavHorava

I think ADA is better than some of those guys though. I think Lindgren is at best a 3rd pair D in the NHL. Hardly a lock for him to make it with anyone. I've been on the Tarmo bandwagon, but I think he's still multiple seasons from playing big minutes on the big club. He will almost for sure spend the entire season in Hartford next year.

I get that the contract may make it so, but why is Skeji a lock for the future but ADA isn't? Skeji is 2 years older than ADA and his ceiling is lower IMO. If you think that possible ADA isn't in long term plans, I don't think it's a stretch to think that Skjei might not be in long term plans either.

Weve been saying how wonderful it is after we sign these free agents. Its been a long line of free agent failures. Redden, Rozival, Gomez, Drury, Richards, Shatty. You can throw in Girardi and Staal, maybe Nash and Gabrick too. Big bucks thrown their way and yet they failed to live up to the contracts. I just hope Panarin isnt another one. Id love to see him work out and win a Cup, but the pessimist in me cant. History isnt on our side.

None of those were with the Gorton/JD pair though. It's a different regime running the team now

You're right, we should suck forever. Last season was great rooting against the team I want to win the cup. Had a blast

I know we dont exactly know what Buch can do yet, but considering how deep we are at RW, Id rather move him.

The rangers (frank)ed up a lot with players and trades the last 20 years.

This offseason has been close to perfect. Anyone saying otherwise is salty as (frank)

We've thought that before too, players still have to perform but for now all moves are positive.

You can make the same claim about every other team throughout the years that didn't win the Stanley cup. I don't agree with every signing, but thats what teams do to get better. Not sure why G and Staal are on your list, they absolutely deserved their contracts at the time. Also Staal was drafted and G technically was a free agent but the Rangers gave him a tryout and paid him peanuts on a two way contract when they first signed him.

Actually, my biggest concern is whether or not Quinn is the right coach for this team.

Half the guys on the last are either players that were brought up in or system or aren't busts. I guess Gaborik should have scored 50 instead of 40.

I have no desire to move Deangelo, zero. Him as the 3rd pair RD is fantastic, in fact before Fox I was ok with him as the 2nd pair RD. He’s not going to cost them a lot, I’d actually give him 5 years, like 3 mil per

Trouba Fox AD is as good as you could ask for I think on that side

I totally understand your pessimism and it is totally warranted. i think the difference between those guys and Panatin is that he isnt being brought in to solve a problem/fill a hole. He is being brought in to play good hockey and be part of a rebuild.

It might seem crazy, but I think Panarin will be the captain eventually
