If someone is (frank)ing you in the ass do you respond by saying "at least it won't be for too long?" No. No you don't. |

For 1 year with our cap situation its a great signing...I think he gives us what we lost with Maroon on the Power Play..should help out big time |
|
|
|
I like this signing...
Low risk high reward, Adds some much needed grit and toughness in the lineup, we have plenty of cap space still not like it's a long term affect |

Eh maybe. He had 30 points in 79 games last year. Only 8 PP points all season, and was so bad that he got dropped to the Flyers non-existent second PP unit.
He also provides absolutely nothing defensively. |

Pretty much. But he was injured at the end of his tenure here.
$5m is hefty, but it’s 1 year.
He might get you 35-40 points, but don’t be surprised if it’s 25-30.
Great locker room guy at least |

1 year is fine. If it works, great. If it doesn't, oh well. I was about to say the Devils can still sign Nyqvist, but it looks like he's going to Columbus. Let's see what happens and maybe the Devils can work a trade or FA signing next year.
It's looking like the line-up is the following:
Hall-Hischier-Palmieri
Bratt-Hughes-Simmonds
Boqvist-Zajac-Coleman
Wood-Zacha-Bastian/Anderson/McLeod
Extra: Rooney
Vatanen-Subban
Butcher-Severson
Greene-Smith
Extra: Mueller, Carrick
*If the Devils go with 2 forwards and 1 D, Hayden replaces Carrick.
The Devils finally have some depth, and they don't have to rush the other kids. If the kids such as Bastian, Anderson, and McLeod step up, then there's no need to chase after a FA next year. |

Simmonds is a strong bounce back candidate. Really smart move for the Devils. |

Simmer was a hard worker, and will be one of those guys that when he comes back to town will get an ovation from the Philly crowd when he steps on the ice.
I abhor the Devils, but they’re throwing an interesting team out there this year. Having a guy like Simmonds for a season can’t hurt too bad.
If he’s on a line with Hughes, he might get a little bump in his production. He shouldn’t be a 2nd liner, though. You want him bottom 6 at this point.
His teammates will love him |

In 21 games with Nashville, he had the same amount of points with them as Zac Rinaldo did.
I loved the dude, but he's shot. |

There is a chance that Simmonds can rebound if he is completely healthy. Pre-mature to say that he is shot. |

Wasn't 18-19 supposed to be the healthy bounce back year after his drop off and injuries from 17-18?
His total goals the last 3 years: 31, 24, 17.
PP goals: 16, 11, 5
He's a few steps slower and that power move on the near post doesn't happen quick enough anymore to beat the goalie. |

Was jealous of the signing, has plenty left and will bounce back nicely this year, was the hardest working flyer every game. |

Things like that tend to happen when a player is dealing with multiple injuries. If he is healthy, we'll see if he can bounce back. |
