Yeah I’m trying to figure out what I’m missing here cus it looks like the Leafs took Colorado to town and I felt like the Avs were having a good offseason up until this point.
- Victoro311

Yup. What about this: Kerfoot was asking for a ton and Sakic wasn’t getting anywhere with him? Or he refused to sign with the team? That makes a bit more sense, but I still don’t think he got enough

Why be a fan and just be pissed all the time? - These same guys were pissed off all season during both cups runs

Just be optimistic, and turn the TV off when the seasons over - It's a lot more enjoyable way to be a fan and watch hockey

This is the roster EVERY other team has holes and also has their own version of JJ

Boston made the cup final and game 7 with a 6 million dollar hole(Backes) in their lineup and in their pressbox

- RoloTahmasee

Absolutely Rolo.

Welcome to Pittsburgh TANEV, GALCHENYUK and KAHUN.

A JJ trade would make everyone happy now.

Lol Beau Bennett back in the league. Lots of throw backs today.
- Victoro311

I love Beau. I've skated with him a few times. The poop he's gone through...mentally, emotionally, physically, it's been absurd. The adversity may have actually made him the player he could have been. I'm excited to see.

They just acquired their 2C to play behind MacKinnon. Probably going to give their young D a chance to play

Yeah but Tanev can still skate.
- jmatchett383

This is a huge difference from Simmonds. I like the Tanev deal but we overpaid by $1M

Madden and Bouque were talking about Tanev as a possible 3C. Does he play there? I liked the job Bjugstad did there, but if someone else could take 3C, (maybe McCann gets another shot), I'd like to give Bjugstad another look as a top 6 RW.
- Tojo.

I don't think so. He could match well on the left side with Bjugstad's skill set. If Bjug and Hornqvist can drive play like they did at the end of last year, he'd be a nice fit.

It’s blatantly obvious someone has to be moved now. Let’s say McCann, Crosby, guentzel, Malkin, Galchenyuk, and Kahun are your top 6. You have Rust, Hornqvist, Tanev, Bjugstad, Blueger, Simon, and ZAR on the bottom 6, as well as some guys in the AHL who should also get a shot at training camp like Lafferty and Miletic. Plus Pettersson still needs a deal.

I just wonder if JR is going to try to land a top 6 player for Geno or if he’s going to add something on defense

- drummer829

I think it's gotta be Rust. He'll bring the best return and right now he's on your 4th line. Plus, don't forget about Johnson's little taste last year. He could be a quality 4th line speed guy. You also still have blandisi I think. And, from what I understand, Bellerive may be ready by mid year.

Agreed. Anything under 3 mil I'm fine with. It's not the player, but the money.

My guess is Bjugstad or Rust when in reality it should be JJ or Gudbranson.
- j.boyd919

Boyd, I don't think it'll be Bjugstad. He's basically what Rutherford has been talking about getting. And, I think he brings a lot to the table that isn't always tangible...but, then again, who knows with Rutherford. He's capable of doing anything at any moment...

They already have so many good young D, did they really need another one? As you eluded to before there aren’t many in the league who provide offense from the backend like Barrie does. When I said the Avs would be fine without him (they will) this isn’t what I meant. Kadri is good offensively but the suspensions are a lot to handle

I also don’t think this is a great sign for Burnaby Joe. Kerfoot could’ve gone anywhere and he chose the Avalanche and then they traded him? I don’t think that’s going to sit well with the agents of future college players who choose the FA route

I don’t think I’d want it to be Bjugstad. I’d prefer Hornqvist to any of them but I think in the pecking order it’s Rust, Bjugstad, Gudbranson, JJ.

MoJo is still out there.... maybe trade away Hornqvist and sign him? (I’m aware we need the cap for our RFA but I want to pretend this is possible) Hornqvist and JJ?

I don’t think JR wants to trade Hornqvist, but if he did and wanted to shed JJ, Benning is your target. But we’d have to take back Eriksson, it’s also possible to get Tanev as well.

Hornqvist + JJ
Eriksson + Taney

May need a pick to sweeten but I don’t think anyone in Van would complain if it was straight up.

No no, Tom Pyatt is still available. I'm sure JR could somehow convince him to come here, like offering him a $3M/8 year contract.

Rutherford is taking the heat, but the elephant in the room is that this team is gonna stink. Nobody wants to hold their nose and play in the shadow of Crosby now, because they know it won’t lead to a cup. Give poor Jim a break.

I agree. I believe he is also in JRs dog house due to his inconsistency. I do believe a better option to move would be Hornqvist though. I think in a few years when he slows down, that contract is gonna hurt us. Which is another reason why I would like to see him moved. I think Guentzel and Bjugstad could provide good net front presence. From someone's comments of Tanev being tried at center, I think a line of Rust, Tanev, and McCann would give teams a problem.
- 123Kid

I like the Tanev-McCann-Rust combination but we need to share here. Hoping to see good things from Kahun and Simon next season.

I can't find any real justification here. Adding Kerftoot? Kerfoot just put up 42 points. It's not like COL is struggling for cap space.
