To shake things up. Change of scenery for the locker room. Maybe this poop player from anywhere else might flourish here and JJ may do even better elsewhere.

One thing I've learned watching Vegas and Tampa, is if you can just accumulate tradeable assets (nix JJ), even if you move them out for nothing (Colin Miller - Vegas) sometimes you can do well by doing it (JT Miller - Tampa)

Rust has trade value, whatever value that brings can be added to the asset that we just got for free, If it's not Rust, maybe it'll be Horn - who knows

Remember, at lot of Rust's stats have been put up riding shotgun to Malkin and Crosby

They are both 12-15 goal guys who PK, with speed, who can slot up and down the lineup. 3 million-ish is the going rate everywhere for those guys

I agree with the part about Rust being a good candidate to flip, but that was true before the signing.

The one thing I thought the Pens had in abundance, and thus what they didn't need to spend on , was affordable middle six forwards. That's why spending big on a bottom 6 forward was, IMO, a mistake.

The forward group is shook up a bit. But it was the D group that needed a lil shaking...JR logic for you.
