GMJR loves the current D, why change things? - jmatchett383
To shake things up. Change of scenery for the locker room. Maybe this poop player from anywhere else might flourish here and JJ may do even better elsewhere. |

One thing I've learned watching Vegas and Tampa, is if you can just accumulate tradeable assets (nix JJ), even if you move them out for nothing (Colin Miller - Vegas) sometimes you can do well by doing it (JT Miller - Tampa)
Rust has trade value, whatever value that brings can be added to the asset that we just got for free, If it's not Rust, maybe it'll be Horn - who knows
Remember, at lot of Rust's stats have been put up riding shotgun to Malkin and Crosby
They are both 12-15 goal guys who PK, with speed, who can slot up and down the lineup. 3 million-ish is the going rate everywhere for those guys - RoloTahmasee
I agree with the part about Rust being a good candidate to flip, but that was true before the signing.
The one thing I thought the Pens had in abundance, and thus what they didn't need to spend on , was affordable middle six forwards. That's why spending big on a bottom 6 forward was, IMO, a mistake. |

The forward group is shook up a bit. But it was the D group that needed a lil shaking...JR logic for you.

Wasnât it an âunwritten ruleâ that if you offer sheet a player that you risk a black listing as a GM? |

Hahaha
Canes are gonna match it...... right?
Habs would only have to give up a 1st, 2nd and 3rd hahah that would be absolute robbery. |

You would have to think so but theyâll likely wait to do so leaving MTL in limbo, or one could assume at least |

Canes must have been lowballing if Aho signed that contract.
They would be crazy to not match. |

Man the way the Habs structured that offer is straight gangster hahaha .. they totally front loaded it so the Canes would have to give a pile of cash the first few years.. and they're a budget team... |

Also, reporting that itâs been offered but not signed by Aho at this time. Would have to assume they discussed it with him and his agent and knew he was prepared for it until told otherwise |

Also, I believe they have to keep him for like a full year or something before trading him. Not 100% on the time stipulation but I believe there is one |

Okay... can you explain to me the relevance/significance of Aho signing it?
If he doesnt sign does that mean Carolina doesnt even have to match? |

They were trying to do a cheaper bridge deal and agree, you have to pay that. |

Canes reportedly offered 6x8 years, then 5.5 x 5 years
