Read a couple of different places from Jets fans regarding Tanev...

- He will be a fan favorite very quickly.
- $3.5 is a decent cost, but the term is a bit long.
- He plays the game like a fast Chris Kunitz.
- Will be very good in the room.

If the end result is they move Rust in a similar move to Maatta, but get an affordable, puck moving LHD that pushes JJ out, then I'll be happy with things overall.

One thing I've learned watching Vegas and Tampa, is if you can just accumulate tradeable assets (nix JJ), even if you move them out for nothing (Colin Miller - Vegas) sometimes you can do well by doing it (JT Miller - Tampa)

Rust has trade value, whatever value that brings can be added to the asset that we just got for free, If it's not Rust, maybe it'll be Horn - who knows

Remember, at lot of Rust's stats have been put up riding shotgun to Malkin and Crosby

They are both 12-15 goal guys who PK, with speed, who can slot up and down the lineup. 3 million-ish is the going rate everywhere for those guys

We overpaid a guy by like a million and 3 years to many. Add that to the overpay for Jack Johnson and trading for Gudbranson who is also over paid. You look at a singular move by GMJR and say no big deal we overpaid by a mill. But when you look at the long game these overpays are keeping the roster from being upgraded in a meaningful way.

This scares the hell out of me...so they'll move more good players we know (and have on the team) for more deadwood. I have zero faith in JR at this point, just figure out who the worst guy is left available and assume 2-3 years extra term and $1-2 million overpay then that's where the team is headed.

Wow. I was kinda wondering if the bi tching was ever going to end lol. So I’ve been sharing Micah’s charts now for a couple months. You want to see positives in the o zone and negatives in the D zone and the penalty differentials are relatives. So what does it mean? He’s a defensive forward who’s not providing a ton of offense and he draws wayyyy more penalties than he takes. What could possibly explain Tanev’s numbers? He’s a run and gun type forward who punishes his opponents with huge hits. He’s not separating his man from the puck, he’s trying to put his man through the boards. The puck is entirely secondary. What this does lead to though is turnovers from the opposition which doesn’t go towards his stat sheet aside from +/-

I went to see family in WPG last year and my uncle took me to the Bolts game. It was great. Jets won in OT. Tanev is incredibly noticeable in a positive light. Fans will love him for his tenacity and he’s going to give us a lot more PP opportunities. Our powerplay scores. Indirectly he is going to provide offensive opportunities

As far as who was interested in Tanev/JJ. It appeared to be common knowledge. Who was interested in Tanev? I mean, there was a lot of interest in him at the deadline so I imagine there would’ve been in free agency *for the right price* but hey, semantics
