It’s incredibly frustrating to see Donskoi go for the exact same dollar amount. - Victoro311
That's also what Connelly signed for. |

I have been a JR supporter but at this point he needs to be taken behind the shed with old yeller. |

10.75 mill spent annually on JJ, Gudbranson and Tanev. That is an incredible amount of money for so little production. |

Hold on a sec, lets look at things from their perspective... - Reverend Killtaker
I got nothing |
|
|
|
Mario and Burkle need to intervene...this team as constructed by JR is sabotaging and hindering the star players ability to compete for a cup. Enough is enough already. |
|
|
|
Meanwhile, Panik signs for $2.5 mil, who is is a much better player |

I'm not advocating the signing but, 3rd most hits NHL, 81 blocked shots 3rd highest for a forward. I see why they wanted him. 3 too many years imo. - nateca44
So his team never has the puck when he’s on the ice. |

I don't hate the player, think he may even live up to the contract if he's a good third liner.
Problem is, we had much cheaper guys who could be good third liners. If we got value fine, but we paid a premium we didn't have to.
So we have a possible 13M 3rd line of Tanev-Bjugstad-Hornqvist. Also, goodbye Rust. |

I think the damage is done here. I think we just have to accept that our time is done here and we just get to enjoy watching two of the best to ever play the game suit up for our favorite team for a couple more years. |

Thats the thing about free agency though
Just because you offer the same money and term, doesn't mean that they will sign with your team
Maybe Donskoi really wanted the Avs
Maybe Connolly's first choice was the Sunshine in Florida with no state income tax? |

Hits and blocks indicate his team is never really in control regardless of Corsi |

When do we get the presser where JR says that term and $ amount were necessary because other teams were after him.

Anyone good coming up in the draft next year? The idea of seeing JJ, EG, BT and possibly even Cullen suit up ever game for the coming year(s) is frightening. |

Or maybe he's a really good on the pk. He does have a few short handers. I think someone else gets moved. It only makes sense but, what does make sense anymore? |
|

So... we HAVE to be moving out a winger now, right?
Rust or Horny? There is just too many with term around when we have a decent amount of youth in the wings. |

We kinda don't
All these years of "Trade the picks, the prospects won't be ready until the Sid/Geno window is closed anyways.... blah, blah, blah..."
Well, a guy drafted 3 years ago should be ready to step in now, the guy drafted 2 years ago should be ready to go next year
Haven't had a 1st rounder since 2014, and he was traded for Kessel
So 2015, 2016 and 2017 COULD have been about ready to step into the lineup on ELC's to play 3rd and 4th line roles, BUT... they aint here....

Sure, just saying Connelly was a good value at the same price. Tanev, you're hoping he just lives up to it.
They have 2 highly paid bottom 6 wings now with him and Hornqvist despite actually having those types of forwards in WBS. This is a much bigger problem than JJ Gudbranson because JJ could be bought out and Gudbranson only has one year after this one and could easily be moved. |

So Tanev is worth more than Panik?
JR acts like there’s a massive bidding war for these “must have” players and doles out these long contracts. |

That's a generalization. Also a good reason to use relative numbers. |

That's not a relevant move honestly... he gets almost exclusively 4th line minutes already.
I'll take a 3rd or whatever for him since hes definitely been replaced... but that's just fluff |

$3.5M... seriously, Rutherford? Our GM has barely any wiggle room and he still finds a way to spend stupid money. - SuperHenderson13
I think this means Hornquist is heading out...which I am OK with, if true. |

After Guentzel and Galchenyuk, we have Rust, Kahun, McCann, Hornqvist, Simon, and ZAR. Surely they had potential 3rd liners after filling out the top 6.
Bjorkvist and Bellerive just turned pro and could be pushing for jobs on that 3 year time table. |
