Regarding the supposed signing of Curtis Lazar, I will share what I know. He is from my area (Okanagan Valley in BC). I have met him a few times and I coached his sister one year on my son's hockey team. The entire family is super nice and Curtis is an outstanding person. He always has a smile on his face.

The kid was the captain of Team Canada juniors when Canada last won gold in 2015. McDavid and Reinhart were the assistants. I personally think this is a good depth signing for 1 year, assuming a price of < $1 million. He is only 24 years old. He will want to prove that he belongs in the NHL. He is a big body that is quite tenacious. Probably good for the 4th line C role. I would rather have Lazar at 4C or wing than Sobotka at $3.5, Larsson at $2.5 and Girgs at whatever he'll make. And if Lazar doesn't make it, he can always go down to Rochester and help solidify the Top 6.

OK, back to the juicy Risto for ??? rumours.

Ottawa piling up the washout coaches into their bench. Davis Payne joins them to make them worse. Congrats, Ottawa

They are not keeping 55, they want a second line center. Unless all talks breakdown on a trade he is gone. He wants out and they want a player gone who doesn't want to be here
- Buffalo39

so he wants out...that's why their trading him

He seems like a Tennyson signing tbh. Guy they move around based on injuries.

Botterill wants to improve Buffalo, and Lazar doesn't do that in any fashion.

U need to go to the last blog. Taco guaranteed he is going to Rochester because the Sabres would never have to worry about him not clearing waivers.

One way means he makes the same salary in both leagues. That's it.

Means he gets paid the same salary if he is in the NHL or AHL. He will be in Rochester.

I still believe that. He's a depth, tweener signing. If Botts thinks he's some big improvement over what's here now, we're (frank)ed.

Drai is a great winger with McDavid. I'm not sold on him being a center at all, or at least him being a good center

but it's an nhl contract as opposed to an ahl deal where he'd start in Rochester and if things went well he they could turn it into an nhl deal...kinda like what they're doing with leier

Agreed. Depth and competition are good. He shouldn't be in Buffalo, but a couple injuries can change things quick.
