I saw the Rolling Stones last night. A bunch of septegenarians came out on on stage and melted everyone's faces off. It was unbelievable. They have some kind of rock 'n' roll immortality pact with the devil man.

Was there too. I want name of Mick’s heart surgeon. Great show

When we see the contract Tyler Franking Myers signs tomorrow, we will all wonder why we didn't keep Zaitsev and Gardiner.
- Atomic Wedgie

I don't know why the rush to trade Zaitsev. Seems to me we would be better served by letting Myers and Gardiner sign first.

Ceci will likely get around $5 mil in arbitration. If he plays well the Leafs can extend in January. Likely a 5 year ext...again around $5 mil per. Trade has to happen before any of this and there could be other elements involved.

If you find a way to get rid of 5 years, 4.5 million per you do it. If you wait you might find worse deals.

That cap space is huge.

It’s quite simple.

Ceci’s agent and teams are allowed to talk to eachother right now....possibly about their summer plans...but most likely how much money teams would want Ceci at.

It happens every year at this time. RFA’s and UFA’s are allowed to talk to eachother and in the event Ceci becomes a UFA if the Leafs deny arbitration he will want to know his worth.

- Santo_44

Again, you told me that I was making hi take less when it's factually false. His qualifier is higher. In your scenario the leafs walk from arb and he signs for 1-2mil.

In who's scenario did the player get paid more?

How is this even happening.

There is a good chance they are both already signed unofficially and will be announced tomorrow at 12:01 PM.

That's what I don't understand about Marner's apparent annoyance at not being in the NHL at 18. Like he would've wanted to be on a line with Spalling and PA Parenteau or Winnik and Arcobello.

He wouldn't have hit any bonuses that year

- walshyleafsfan

He would have made them 20 goal scores each and they would have been signed long term.
Marner should be happy he didnt play

Lou did so many great things. He's old and done it a long time.

Oh man. You are hard to talk to.

There is two things Ceci wants to do.

1.play in the NHL to get another NHL contract next year
2.make money

There’s multiple avenues he can go with this to achieve both goals. He may have to sign way less as a UFA to gaurentee ice time. He may have to take a bit of a risk sign a bit less with the Leafs to get ice time. He may just say (frank) it and sign the QO and hope the Leafs don’t bury him.

Leaf cap is tight, but they have lots of great players....tends to happen. Lot better than being in cap hell and not being a good team.

I much prefer Matthews, Tavares and Marner problems to Phaneuf, Kessel and Clarkson problems.

Ceci will never play for the Leafs. He'll either be traded or Dubas will walk away from his arb. This Zaitsev for Ceci trade is an excellent move by Dubas. He had to eat a warm sandwich with Marleau but he's opening up Cap space. It'll be interesting to see if he can trade for a couple of good defensemen.
