As much as he was better with muzzin, he still sucked. He can't make a pass to save his life. As Ray Ferraro says "what does he do? Not big and strong, doesn't skate particularly well, can't make a pass. He's just there "

That's 2 open spots still (assuming they replace z in a trade for him). Already have Rosen and holl in the lineup which Babcock has been reluctant to use. Rielly and muzzin are going to get overused early and burn out.

Well at the end of the day, I don't think they're prepared to take a bath on Zaitsev just because the guy wants out and makes some stupid comments to the Russian media. He may just have to man up and play for the team that he's under contract with.

I just don't see any deals out there that make sense for Zaitsev. They'd have to take salary back or give up like a 2nd and a middling prospect for him to be clean off the books and we're not really in position to do that.

I don't think he's that soft. He's pretty adept at breaking up the cycle and when paired with a safe outlet and controlled D to D breakout partner in Muzzin, played pretty well in the playoffs all things considered.

He's better than ziatev and cheaper and shorter deal.

Get Miller and dump ziatev. Saves a mil and you're not down a rhd.
