So I don't think hainsey is coming back, apparently some other teams are going after him. But, I would like to say to the trolls who went on about kap and Johnson signing 4m offer sheets that they can suck it.

Now let's get marner figured out.

- mykokes

Well this might be the reason they figured those other guys might get offer sheets. By signing those other 2 deals I'd say the Leafs have signalled they're willing to receive the picks for Marner should it come to it, unless they have a couple of deals in place.

You w erent among them dude, they know who they are. As for deals, we will see once the bonuses are paid out. And if it comes to marner leaving for 4 1st round picks, it won't be the end of the world.

What if he leaves for less than that? I mean doesn't 10.5 give 2 1sts, 2nd , 3rd? Again, a big payout but it's not the same.

I'm not saying it's likely, but in order to match a deal like that they may have to move assets along with contracts.

Then you match. And dubas will find a way to make the cap space whether it's zaitsev, brown nylander or kadri.

Losing one of these two would hurt IMO. Kadri short term and Nylander in the long run. Then again, i'm just an idiot that chats on a message board.

At the end of the day Marner will get his money. The real test of Dooby Houser will be his ability to make moves to ice even a middle of the pack d core. Unless he goes nuclear.

The leafs survived quite well without nylander last season, seemed to me the wheels fell off when he came back. That said, he will be missed, but the leafs are pretty deep with their best players being their youngest last year. Is it wrong to assume Matthews who has improved year after year and a resigned marner, won't continue to get better the 4th year, which Is traditionally a breakout year for nhlers

Fack no.
Reims was garbage last year.
No more bringing back old crap.

9 straight years of 30+ games with a .914 SV%.

He's one of the most reliable back-ups out there.

He's definitely better than Sparks and Hutchison. Of that, there should be zero doubt.

Just a matter of price.

(frank)ing Sabres got Miller for a 2nd and a 5th.

That was the guy Dubas.

Right price and now he's in Buffalo.

As of now, considering the rubber Andersen is going to see this year, Leafs need a guy that can play a lot of games. And it does;t hurt that he's experienced the rubber himself as a leaf.

10.6 left in Cap space ...

Just enough for Marner and Hainsey.

- The Law

Plus another 8.5 if need be with injuries to Horton Hyman and Dermot. There's more wiggle room then people think IMO.

How did the leafs not get Miller? A 2nd and a 5th? That's it.

I don't get it.

because he sucks donkey ass, that's why.
was a healthy scratch in vegas and more prone to defensive giveaways than gardiner.
thank marner for preventing dubie to go after 'his guy'.

He's better than ziatev and cheaper and shorter deal.

Get Miller and dump ziatev. Saves a mil and you're not down a rhd.

I guess leafs are going to run with inexperienced d men like Rosen (who Babcock refused to play arleady) and Lilly and/or sandin.

Is hands are tied until he get marner done. If he gets a fair deal done with him then he's got room to work with, if marner is adamant about being moronically overpaid then dubas has to figure it out.

Find a way sounds so easy...
Presto magic & done huh

2 players of significant sized contracts have to move with next to nothing in $$$’s coming back.

6.49m cap for Marner & 4 others.
At least 8m has to go if 4 min contracts fill the holes. Sure leaves the D in a mess. If Willy goes that’s more likely. Going to be some pain in the very near future.

I don't know if they seem him as much of an upgrade over Zaitsev.

Speaking of which, he played pretty well with Muzzin and I think could form a very solid second pairing this year; do we really have to dump him?

Focus on:

Rielly X
Muzzin Zaitsev
Dermott/Rosen Holl

I bet it sucks to have that imbecile Benning as your GM. I heard $7.5 x 7 for Tyler Myers is done. When Benning doles out another $8 x 8 for Boeser and the Nucks pay the $3 million per season of cheaters tax. add $5.25 for a third liner that scored all of 13 goals last season then the cherry on top is 29 poiint Eriksson at $6million for three more years. Keep trolling!

You’re leaving out Hortons cap not counting. Don’t bother saying you have to be cap compliant with him for the first day of the season, cause that’s wrong.

He wants out.

As much as he was better with muzzin, he still sucked. He can't make a pass to save his life. As Ray Ferraro says "what does he do? Not big and strong, doesn't skate particularly well, can't make a pass. He's just there "

That's 2 open spots still (assuming they replace z in a trade for him). Already have Rosen and holl in the lineup which Babcock has been reluctant to use. Rielly and muzzin are going to get overused early and burn out.
