or you could say that giving that contract out made it weird that he developed an allergy to his equipment right when it would really hurt the team

I was talking Chara

I didn't realize you were so negative, I guess Tom being gone makes it stand out
- jimbro83

I'm not being negative, all I am saying is that instead of trying to get every other team's young players cause they had a good season is look at the broader pic, one guy does not make a team look at his teammates. because they achieved something doesn't mean they can do it again. one guy may be playing really well because of who he is playing with.

One of those pieces was Marian Hossa, a first ballot HOF. Was Hossa a bust for Pitt and the Wings because they lost in the finals with him?
- 2sticks1puck

We had the wrong Hossa.

By your own metrics though none of that would matter because they won 3 cups that he was a core piece too. Besides the jersey allergy let Chicago off the hook big time.

Your argument seems to come down to the following: Guy can score 40 goals, but if no cup is won signing is a bust. Guy can score 20 goals, but if they win it was the right move.

I defend Rick Nash more than I should, but criticism in the playoffs is warranted. Saying a guy like Gaborik was a bad signing because we never won the cup despite him producing a ton for us just seems like a really weird hill to die on.

I think we pretty much agree, if we fail on Panarin, I don't advocate getting any other UFA and I would be more than happy to sign Kreider to an extension

Guy 100% fooled me. Guy was a beast on opening night in 05-06 I though we had a gem on our hands, that was the last memorable thing he ever did.

I loved having Rick Nash because I felt he could be a great teacher to the next Gen

not saying he is a bust I'm saying if we don't have anything to show for it what's the point?

That actually drives me crazy with the NFL sometimes. Draft a QB. The QB is a bust. No, we can't draft another QB! The last guy was a bust!

The point is that if you don't make the signing, you don't even have the failed attempt at the goal.

Pulling out an old Star Trek gem here (yes, big loser, I know):

"It is possible to make no mistakes and still lose."
