I still say sign him, just thinking about the future and everyone on here acts like they just got their Cheerios pissed on. - nyrangers9479
I know about all that. Youre forgetting tho that all these teams in cap hell have like 3 bad contacts at least, and one or two that is just god awful. We don’t have any at all at the time your worrying about it. As long as we don’t spend stupid on stupid players, it isn’t a big deal. And the cap with Seattle is going to help everyone
I’m in the camp I’ll worry about 3 years from now in 3 years.
Panarin signs the odds of a Krieder trade rise significantly. - blueshirts_fan
I am aware, they have been shopping him anyway. But they also have a shatty/smith side they could try to resolve as well. Or could look to move Strome/Nam/Vesey. A lot of chips are on the table right now.

If we only would’ve listened to someone on here that said Shatty sucked.........

who wants smith? Shatty maybe, but not without something coming back or retaining salary. Vesey yeah he is probably gone no matter what, Strome, I would like to see what he can do even without his unsustainable shooting %, Nam I think is done as well.

I don't have a magic 8 ball so i can't tell you who or what would want them. We just have to let the offseason play out. I just don't think its a given Kreider is automatically gone if Panarin comes.

I still won't go there....if he didn't tear his knee ligaments in training camp his first year, he would have been a completely different player right now.
Just so I'm clear, this debate about signing Panarin and losing Kakko or Kravtsov is based on the same odds of me carrying my girlfriend out the door right now getting bit by a shark, mauled by a grizzly and struck by lightning all at the same time - mdw7413

I think the chances of also signing Kreider to an extension decrease for sure
so if they dont trade him, then they go into season like Hayes and Zucc last year where it becomes a distraction
but, I do believe he'll have more trade value at deadline than he does now

Yea teams who are in contention will offer more at the deadline for a guy in his last year then right now. We just have to let this offseason play out. I can't wait til Monday so moves start happening and we can all stop arguing about dumb stuff haha.
If all our young players are this good, we are going to be living the good life.
Or we can sit out the crazy that has become UFA and watch our guys grow together without running out and adding someone. Pitt didn’t add someone to Malkin/Crosby/Letang. Chi didn’t add anyone to Kane/Toews. I’m not saying they didn’t make trades to improve their team, but they didn’t go out and sign an UFA at 28 which would’ve hampered signing their own guys when the time came. Again, not saying dont sign Panarin, just things we have to think about. Are you ok losing Kakko or Kravtsov 3 years from now bc we have 31 year old Panarin. - nyrangers9479
Actually, they did. Kessel was 28 when he joined them. And it seems to have worked for them. Headed toward rough times, but they are doing so with multiple rings on their fingers.

And he was quietly really good the second half of the season. In any sport, knee injuries like that take 2 years to really fully recover. I think he can still be very useful. I want to try him at 1 LD. I'm not sure anyone has ever tried putting him there, but I think he'd be better than our natural options at that position.
I just think it’s a moot point on Panarin. It’s really starting to sound like he’s going to Florida. All the people in the know seem to think it too, hope not but I’m expecting the Rangers to be left at the altar

Then we move on look at trade options or try for someone like Hall next year. I don't think it would be the end of the world. But Rangers hopefully go all in till he makes up his mind.
