how is that the scenario?
explain to me how we would "lose them"? - jimbro83
You would have to trade one or have 3 players making 36 million dollars and have a skeleton squad. Ok, let’s say you trade one, there’s no guarantee anyone in the deal becomes half the player one of them could be. It’s why I’d be ok offer sheeting Marner. With Marner we’re probably a playoff team, so you’re giving 4 picks at the 20 range for an elite talent. What are the chances one of those become Mitch Marner? Could all 4 be good? Ya but that’s a crap shoot, you know what you have in Marner and that 3rd and 4th year 1st round picks aren’t playing in the NHL for 5-6 years while you’re getting 100 points from Marner. |

maybe not "would" but could, it does increase the chance of that |

in 2022-23, that's when Kravstov and Kapp come off their ELC's, the Rangers currently have 6.3 million on the cap
that's Skjei and Girardi's final year of his buyout
that's it
Probably add 8 million for Trouba.
I think we are going to be ok. Panarin is not going to make them disappear in summer of 2022 |

Or we can sit out the crazy that has become UFA and watch our guys grow together without running out and adding someone. Pitt didn’t add someone to Malkin/Crosby/Letang. Chi didn’t add anyone to Kane/Toews. I’m not saying they didn’t make trades to improve their team, but they didn’t go out and sign an UFA at 28 which would’ve hampered signing their own guys when the time came. Again, not saying dont sign Panarin, just things we have to think about. Are you ok losing Kakko or Kravtsov 3 years from now bc we have 31 year old Panarin. - nyrangers9479
Then you just need to land players like Crosby/Malkin/Letang or Kane/Toews |

No one else on the roster will be making any money? I’m sure EDM said the same thing with McDavid and Draisaitl and now they can’t get a top 6 winger to play with them. |

Yes, before playing a single NHL game we’re going to make that call. U got it! Hows ur boy Whalstrom doing? He the next Gretzky? |
|

we are just gonna keep going round and round and round on this and not see eye to eye on this I am afraid - jimbro83
Why are you so eager to take young players from everywhere else but not willing to wait to see what you have? |

But you're OK saying they're going to be comparable to some of the best players to ever play the game before they play a single NHL game? That's patently absurd. |

I think it's wrong to compare younger players with superstars and sets us up for disappointment. we have HIGH hopes for a lot of members of this prospect camp, I want to see what they can do as they play together and get comfortable with one another. and if we don't add an all star I'm ok with that, it keeps the core we have together and can make them better. |

you didn't want to offer sheet Marner, or Point, Karlsson (from Vegas) or roll out the red carpet for UFAs? |

I’m saying let’s wait and see what we have in Kravtsov and Kakko before making decisions that could affect us keeping them in the future. |

Of course, Kakko and Kravstov are likely to be very good NHL players. Highly likely. But to compare them to Crosby/Malkin/Kane is absolute nonsense. |

I definitely didn't want to sign any other UFA's other than Panarin
if you want to go back to the Erik Karlsson UFA debate, I led the charge against signing him
I don't think Marner or Point offer sheets are realistic, never cared about William Karlsson
I am leading the charge in being excited and Kakko and Kravstov
I just pointed out that the Rangers have a virtual blank slate in 2022 if terms of their salary cap and there is literally nothing to worry about
anything else? |

What am I missing here? Once Kakko and Kravtsov are done with their elc's we would have one big contract, Trouba, 2 if they get Panarin, why do we have to get rid of any of our young guys? |

81.5 to 95 in two years - Slimtj100
I heard today on NHL radio that they don't expect the cap to increase that much in the next 2 years.... maybe a total of 3 million by 2021-22. Who knows though. Hopefully it's much higher than that. |

They added Hossa to both teams. When Sid and Malkin came in the league, they immediately got guys like Leclair, Recchi, etc. The bolded statement couldn't be further from the truth. |

definitely stagnant this coming season and next, but there is talks of a new TV deal that will raise it up after that
Rangers are in great shape, just gotta get through next two seasons with this dead wood |

I’m not comparing them or saying they’re the next Malkin and Crosby. What I’m saying is those teams had young players and let them grow. We have young players that project to be good, let’s see what we have in them before we go out and sign someone that could potentially cause us to lose one of them in 3 years. |
