I mean do you want him playing with lesser player tho? I think you play him with the best players our best two forwards by a country mile would be Zib and Panarin
- Slimtj100

Listen, I don’t want to speak negatively about Kakko, I hope he comes in and becomes the next Malkin or such, out of the gate. But, that’s a huge assumption,

guys, the Rangers have already made the decision to sign Panarin, now the only thing that remains to be seen is if they win the sweepstakes.

saying they should wait until they are a contender is a waste of time, they've made the decision already to go for the guy

- jimbro83

This is spot on. They’ve made their decision, we’re just talking about if it’s the right one or not. I haven’t been a fan of UFA signings but I’m a fan of this one if we can do it.

Svechnikov played mostly on the 3rd line last year. It’s not about stacking 1 line, it’s about finding that balance.

If that’s all they did (get Panarin) I’d put that line together in preseason and just watch it in amazement because that’s what it would be. Modern day GAG line (for Old School), hell maybe even 2 goals a game

Elliotte Friedman stated earlier today on NHL Network that "the Isles are very much in the hunt for Panarin, and don't count them out on Bobrovsky as well, even though most people feel that both will become Panthers."
He added that Pavelski is also meeting with Tampa, after having visited with Dallas.

Otherwise, there are many teams interested in signing pending F.A. Anders Lee, including Chicago, since word is they were heavily interested in bringing back originally drafted, Kevin Hayes, had the Flyers not been able to sign him.

But the team that will be most active in trades sooner than later will be Vegas, after their recent extending of William Karlsson long term. Despite their trade yesterday of Erik Haula to the Canes (for $2.275 in cap relief), the Knights are currently around $5M or so over the cap ceiling, with the need still to sign a backup goalie to fill just one necessary roster hole, due to Malcolm Subban being currently a pending RFA. Among those in chief rumored to be possibly dealt by them for cap relief purposes include:

C- Cody Eakin (1 year left @ $3.85M)
RW- Ryan Reaves (1 year left @ $2.775M)
RW- David Clarkson (1 year left @ $5.25M)
D- Colin Miller (3 years left @ $3.875M)
D- Nick Holden (1 year left @ $2.2M)
D- Jon Merrill (1 year left @ $1.375M)

I could see Vegas parting primarily very soon with both Eakin and Miller. Despite teams allowed to be 10% over the cap until next season's start, they immediately need to acquire or sign as a free agent an experienced reliable backup goalie, if not able to rely on one to do the job from their minor league system should Subban sign elsewhere.

If we miss on Panarin give me Clarkson and a 1st for a 7th

You would then trust Buch to carry a 2nd line of Chytil who has a career high 23 points and Kravtsov who has never played an NHL game?

I’m just saying to maximize all 3 guys. But like I said, it’s silly to do this now because this team could be doing a whole other makeover we haven’t even seen coming

Well just skimmed through and I honestly still have no idea how anyone would not want Panarin.

Strome is the second line center as we sit here today. If Chytil is a center he’s 3 imo, howden is 4. So I’d be ok with Strome with Krav and Chytil or Buch or Kreider

You’ve anointed Chytil as the 2C but I can’t go there yet. He showed about 10 games of serious flash, some plays here and there, but most of his season was inconsistent.

Where’s Andersson? Howden as a 4C is a waste IMO

Or LW. Listen it’s silly to do this, we both it all the time, but I get it..it’s fun to speculate.

But I’m just saying, I would maximize Zib and Panarin with Kakko. You wanna try Krav there that’s fine, but if they put say Vesey for instance, I’d be losing my shyt

Just knowing the way Quinn coaches and his philosophy. Kakko or Kravtsov would have to have an absolutely insane camp to get on the 1st line

My point is, and I feel the main point is, not do the Rangers and fans want Paranin. But, does he want the Rangers as they are in this point in time. Good news is, we’ll know on Monday.

Oh yeah, I think that will definitely be running through his mind. I'm just glad its this year after getting Trouba, Fox, Kakko, Kravtsov coming over.. etc. I think if it was last year, we wouldn't have had a chance

It won’t be Vesey, only thing I would do it split Panarin and Zib. Both can drive the play on their own, not sure anyone else on the team can just yet.

Yea exactly. Panarin has to see what we COULD become, especially if he came here it would make it that could much better

Regarding your previous post, the only way people would be anyway upset by him is the AAV imo, and cap effects. Not him the player. But I feel like no one, no matter what contract they freak over, takes into account the cap after Seattle comes in. It’s going to skyrocket (someone predicted 95 mill) so it’ll be way less of an issue then it looks right now. His 11, let’s say, would feel like 9. This is why the people freaking over Hayes deal is so stupid. In two years it’ll feel like 5 mill again, it’s really isn’t a bad contract. And natural inflation occurs anyway

As far as the years, it’s the same ole same old story. You get hurt at the end but that’s the price you pay. He’s not even 30 yet tho

I’ve just been envisioning a line of Kakko, Zib and Panarin for weeks now and I get all sorts of stiff from it

The line thing will change, especially with young guys who usually have ups and downs during a season. Quinn has no problem putting talented players on lower lines or in the press box if they are dogging it. I really think its impossible to know what the lines will be other than Zib being the #1 center

Do you trust a 2nd/3rd line of

Chytil Strome Buch
Kravtsov Howden Andersson

The roster isn’t even complete yet. Turnover is coming in some shape or form.

-Kreider or Buch will be gone most likely (maybe even both is possible)
-Vesey probably gone
-Nam, Fast, strome (one or two could be gone)
-None of the Sss Dmen are guarantees

The only safe players imo are Zib, Skjei, Trouba, Tony D and Leimeux. All the kids too (minus maybe Lias or Howden)

It’s all so up in the air still
