Kane's 5 yr deal works out to 8.7 milly per year. After Kane you drop down to Hall, Gaudreau, Eberle ......all around 9-9.5%. That's like 8 milly per year mostly on 6 yr deals.

Kane's deal by any measurement is great ....unless your measurement is Matthews, Malkin or Crosby.

This is all pie in the sky ...but,

Leafs don't. Once that date hits it quickly becomes too late. Assuming they want to win this year (with or without MM) they'd need to work on a trade before that. And ideally they'd need the trade to happen before training camp.

And if they want to utilize free agency then they need it to happen this weekend.

That reality is why I think it happens before the end of this weekend.

And nobody wants to (frank) around with Matt Martin's wedding this weekend so it has to get done tomorrow.
