Yeah, my scenario would have a guy like Sautner or Bris coming in to the lineup and keeping Hutty on the third pair.
- 1970vintage

Might be a full year or two away from anyone keeping him on the 3rd pairing.

I'm not sure, maybe Florida had something to do with it? Regardless, it was a rule put in after the contract was signed. It's on the league, not Lu.

Why accept a contract and then penalize it later? How many more contracts are out there that were signed prior to the recapture rules coming into effect? Weber, Suter, Parise? not many.

The rest were circumvented, it might be good business for the league to drop it.

The potential is there. I think he could.
- thundachunk

I've been watching lots of scouting and videos of him since we picked him and I see him between 20-30 goals if he hits his potential. Not crafty enough to score 40 imo, he's extremely north-south

If they had an alpha GM they would.
- Marwood

Maybe that's the role of the alpha President.....oh, wait never mind...damn

If he can find or create some soft spots on the ice for himself he could score a bunch.

The boys at the SN650 today said from the rink Rafferty looks very good. He might be a dark horse they said.

He played such a short period last year so it is hard to judge but there was a lot about his game that I liked.

It's definitely not a glory pick like some others might have been. Maybe by the time he gets here Van will have him and shot gun Jake on separate lines creating havoc against other teams. Many playoffs then

I think the Canucks should challenge the recapture penalty to be honest.

Maybe Lu just wanted to retire instead of going on LTIR and felt he owed nothing to the Canucks.
- golfingsince

Oh no he owes nothing to the Canucks, we played the bulk of the salary , gave him a great chance to succeed , even traded him to the only place he wanted to go, it was reported that there is just under 4mil in salary , of which the Canucks would pay 800,000 a yr if ltir but the Panthers would have to some juggling to make it work, so instead we pay more again, this is a middle finger to the Canucks, plain and simple

He looked incredibly calm and poised. Much more so than chubby Mchutton. Impressive for a 24 year old playing his first pro games

The development camp moved up could certainly be one reason why Hutton and Schenn weren't signed right away. Seeing where Rafferty and a few other prospects are at.

I wonder what they mean looks very good though. Best on ice because the talent around him isn't that difficult this week

Yeah good size creative with the puck and stepped into a few guys. I think he is going to be a bargain.

I remember thinking he was more poised in the offensive zone with the puck than the rest of the D. Didnt look out of place defensively either.

There is talent there. They talked about a few players like Hoglander standing out , Lockwood , Madden . Utenen looked good. Not much said about OJ.

I think the team wants Benn so that would move out Schenn. Hutton would be dumb to qualify , he would probably get at least 3.5 in arbitration and he sucks.

Yup . I hope he turns out. I am not a big fan of Stecher . I know he has heart but the talent is limited IMO.

It would have been nice to see the canucks trade him after him and chabot had a good showing on the first pair at the worlds.

OJ? Isn’t he still injured? Benn is LHD, Schenn RHD. They need both
