Man sign me up for that. I'd say Perry could be had for 2 to 3 mill if the Pens wanted him, especially if he's reaching out to them. So less cap hit plus I think Perry would be a net positive on the ice, if only a little, whereas JJ is net negative.

I don't think Perry signs for less than $4mish and for anything less than four years, so that's the problem.

Haula for an above average AHL player. That’s a player the pens could have used on the 2nd/3rd line

It was a cap dump for Vegas and the Pens don't have the room to take it on.

Perry to play with Sid and Guentzel would look good. He could work just fine with Geno too.

Erik Haula went to Carolina (who’s very strong) for Nicolas Roy.

Good for the Canes.

This is an absolute shock to me. Came here to admit that I was wrong about what it would cost to get Haula. He’s signed for only $2.75MM... I can’t believe he didn’t get more. Literally shocked. Wtf was Vegas thinking... they might want to get rid of this new GM, this is an absolutely terrible return

Already 28 and had one good year where everyone on that team played better than their career averages. Pretty major injury as well. Also Vegas is over the cap so they are basically against a wall. Not that surprising

He scored 29 and 25 even strength points in a bottom/middle 6 role the prior seasons. Is that supposed to be bad production? He was playing under 14 minutes a game back then. It doesn’t even open that much cap space. $2.75MM. Won’t surprise me one bit if he’s in the 50-55 point range for Carolina

Erik Haula was a good player in MN who was being underutilized, Vegas knew they were getting studs in him and Tuch. Here is Haula’s pts/60 for any joker who thinks he wasn’t good prior to last year

Starting with his rookie year: 2, 1, 2.1, 1.6, 2.5, 1.7 even if you go with 1.7 points per 60 if you give him second line usage like he was getting in Vegas it gives you a 37 point pace and that’s his basement where if he puts up 2.0 then you get 44. Id say that’s a pretty good steal for a $2.75MM player who didn’t cost much to acquire

Rumor has it Lee Anders may sign with the Wild. I wonder if the Wild have a few good pick ups, if Kessel would accept a trade there. If Ek's reports are correct and the Sharks pick up Kreider from NYR. I would have to admit the Sharks GM does a pretty good job. I think if JR wanted to get bigger and "tougher" to play against. Acquiring Kreider and Kane definitely would have been the perfect pick ups for that mindset.

Side note rumors have it JR could easily move out JJ, but he is not going to because he believes JJ is actually a good defenseman.....

I don't believe that for a second. If he isn't moving him out it's because it will cost significant assets and he wants to save face a bit.

But that's just pure speculation on your behalf, right? Or have you heard/read reports from his agent or him saying he wants 4 mill and 4 years term?

I just think if he reaches out to a team then that team could get a bargain.

Any guy who has waited for a whistle and linesman his whole career to face wash people thinking he’s being some sort of disturbance to the other team doesn’t get my respect. I bring him up because I want to clear his salary and sign Perry. Unless Hornqvist is a staple in the top 6, which doesn’t look that way.
- Grinder47

Princess Perry only fights non-fighters (and it was great when Datsyuk kicked his ass).
The dude can rival Malkin for his accidental-on-purpose elbows, and I wish nothing but pain upon him. And if you think Hornqvist waits for the ref to arrive before throwing after-the-whistle shots, you ain't seen nothing yet. Dude's a complete scum bag and I wish someone would remove his teeth with a vicious flying elbow.

The 4 years seems long... but I would not be shocked at all if I see him get over 10 mil through 3 years somewhere.

Of course he COULD move him out.

JMFJ and Jake Guentzel to Ottawa for a 7th. Done, easy.

I wouldnt be shocked over that either...3.3333333333 per would be just a hair more of a hit than JJ.

I thought this was an interesting from Yohe's piece on Rutherford....

Rutherford knows how to deal with people. Often, this is why general managers will talk business with him and sometimes cut deals with him that they wouldn’t consider with other teams. The Penguins, incidentally, became totally sold on Rutherford in 2012. He had complete leverage on Shero, who knew very well that Jordan Staal wanted to play with his brother in Raleigh. Rutherford was still more than fair, offering Brandon Sutter, Brian Dumoulin and the eighth overall pick for Staal. At that point, Penguins ownership had developed total respect for Rutherford.
