I don't see Sikura as willing to get in shooting lanes and block shots, which is pretty important for a PK forward.

It was just a thought. He's 24 years old, hasn't found a spot in the lineup yet despite his 'potential", so you would think he would want to find a niche for himself if he wants to continue to play in the league.

Bowman signed:

- 38 year old Andrew Brunette
- 34 year old Brad Richards
- 38 year old Chris Kunitz

Age isn’t going to be detrimental to the team signing Corey Perry. The more I think about it, the more it makes sense and I believe the smoke around his name.

He was recovering from knee surgery last season where he had his meniscus and MCL repaired, so it only makes sense that when he returned in February he wasn’t himself and struggled the rest of the way.

Any way you spin it, he was still a 50 point player a season ago, so it’s not like his skills completely vanished either. If his medicals check out, then I would absolutely give him a one year deal because we’ve got nothing to lose. He’s 6’3”, gets to the front of the net, and would be an ideal compliment to Toews if he’s healthy (after all, they did play on Team Canada together).

Give him a one-year deal with heavy incentives. If he meets them, then it was obviously a great signing by the Hawks. If he doesn’t, no harm because he’d be gone anyways. Would much rather prefer this route than overpaying someone with term.

wow...ek reporting gardner may get a 7 yr/50 mildo deal....

WTF...GM's are nutz

What is more amusing is how a mere 1.75 mil in Cap space logjams more than half the teams and cause trade moves.

If you read below... I mentioned there could be more to the trade in terms of picks and prospects.

Would he lose his job if it was Murphy and Boqvist for Lowry?

- Tyler Cameron

No he would not lose his job. Stan would lose his.

If Darling is bought out by Carolina how would you feel about signing him to an AHL contract. Then have Darling, Lankinen, and Delia battle for the backup position in training camp. That is assuming that he has not succumbed to any of his past demons and is 100% healthy mentally and physically.
- -Doh-

The Draling fail is one I have thought about and have no idea what happened, why he wasn't the "darling" that played WELL (not starter material imo) with what the hawks placed in front of him...

Not sure if Darling or Russian Goalie are my choices as adds, or where I am leaning.

I don't think Breadman was even born for the Esposito trade.

i get your points...he looked awful after coming back from that injury...could skate or keep up with the pace...maybe 5 months of rest and rehab has taken care of that...

yes he is a net guy...get rid of arte and sign him makes sense...just can't stand his jerkoffdom

What makes you think that? I don't know if he would be a shot blocker or not but I don't see anything that tells me he wouldn't anymore than I see anything that tells me he would.

I would lose my mind if we signed Michael Haley. I think Toews and Kane would be estatic

Applying your logic, Saad also should have been launched into the sun as a rookie when he wasn’t routinely scoring with 19 and 81.

I know you want to rid the Hawks of him now because he provides nothing, your opinion not mine.

My guess is Sikura gets his first and the dam bursts. I wouldn’t bet against 15 goals if he sees regular time one of the top 3 lines.

- HawkintheD

Chicago isn't the same team they where back than with the amount of talent they had was easy to have patience because the team as a whole was producing and winning .

The team lacks talent so now every player has to contribute in more than just showing up. If in 38 games he hasn't registered a goal and has a combined total of 11 points that doesn't scream elite prospect for a 24 year old goal scorer.

It would be nice to know Chicago has retooled their forwards in 2 areas defensively and scoring .

Saad is to inconsistent and toews had a great year but chances are it was an anomaly for toews production.

Kane is Kane
Debricaant will score
Strome still has a ?

That's Chicago's top 6 I think we can all agree they need more depth

It was 'all hands on deck' for another cup run, the hawks were good enough and had a chance, so seemed like a worthwhile trade (get playoff vets, sacrificing an up-and-coming young guy)... but to me the worst part of that deal was that Q never really played either guy. What was the point of the trade then?

That seemed to be one of the clearest examples of a disconnect between Bowman and Q, like they didn't fully dialogue about this prior to Bowman making the move.

- DontKnowNutin

Wasn't Fleishman acquired because he was a "Q" guy?, Played for him in Colorado?

I hope you're kidding. Lowry isn't worth Boqvist by a long shot.

Then i guess the trade for Strome was a terrible one?

Based on your theory Strome had plenty of time to produce for the Yotes?

I am neutral on Sikura. I am willing to give him more games preferably on the 3rd line, with maybe some fill in days in the top 6. Let's see where he is in December.

Not sure Sikura can really be compared to him. Sikura is a little more Fortin than he is Saad

- PatShart

Are we watching the same Sikura? Sikura isn't anything like either Saad or Fortin. Mercy!

Hartman obviously has something to prove...maybe even to stay in the NHL. He may be a bit humbled by not being tendered

I'd rather the Hawks gave him a 1yr deal for the 4th line then overpay Tanev...and I'm not a Hartman fan

- PatShart

From what I understand, Hartman tweeted that he was going to the cottage/cabin just prior to him being traded. Limited to no cell service. As of yesterday, his mom said he probably doesn't know he was traded let alone not tendered.

Sikura played a type of 200' game last year. He hustled back. Most of his steals were at center ice picking a pocket from behind the puck carrier. But he was not to physical winning board battles in our zone and he did not get in front of too many shots from the point playing 5v5. I could be wrong.

Lazzyrus

While everyone's understandably focused on big names like Joe Pavelski and Anders Lee, I'd expect the Blackhawks to bring in a bottom-six guy or two to create some roster competition. Ryan Carpenter, a defensive-minded center, is one name I keep hearing.

As I recall, a lot of those points came later on in the shortened season and the angry mob here was lined up with torches and pitchforks because he wasn’t scoring a goal a game while playing with 19 or 81, hadn’t earned time on the first line, etc.

Saad was averaging 16 mins a game with pp time that season. Sikura had 8 assists last season in 33 games while avg 11 mins of ice time and I would guess none on the PP.

Saad may not be a great comp but I don’t think Fortin is either. I’m thinking more Kahun’ish.
