This will be waived.

Do you think Gary Bettman is going to fool around with the Italian owners of these 2 teams - the Aquilinis or Vinny Viola? Those guys have friends that will fit him with cement shoes quickly.

Say good-bye to Jay Beagle or Antoine Roussel.

Or they may have to reconsider if they can afford Tyler Myers who's rumoured to be going there.

They can buy him out - it just doesn't impact the cap hit to the team. Buying him out will free up a roster spot and allow him to sign a different contract with another team.
- L_B_R

Correct but carolina stiil had the cap hit right

Yep. Trading him and eating part of his salary makes more sense than a straight buyout.

Ouch - $3M cap hit for 3 more years for Vancouver ... hehehe ... is it wrong to rejoice in their misery?

On the plus side of the de Haan and Maatta acquisitions:

We won’t have to entertain the possibilities of Myers, Gardner, etc. contracts.

Godspeed to the teams that pony up for their services.

Luongo Retired
- EnzoD

End of an era...

I don’t think I disliked a goalie more than him when he was with Vancouver.

It’s hard to build animosity toward a goalie - but he got me there.

Edit: Mike Smith is a distant 2nd.

Feed him to the Bull Sharks! PowerEnforcer is on board with this, I'm sure!

The league will be starting a new department, DOGS (Department of Goalie Safety) and hire Lou as Director, therefore saying he never "Retired".

If you read below... I mentioned there could be more to the trade in terms of picks and prospects.

Would he lose his job if it was Murphy and Boqvist for Lowry?

- Tyler Cameron

NO, but Stan should lose his

I hated the Canucks during the 2008-2015 seasons but I never had a problem with Luongo. I guess I could only hate so much .... Kessler, Burrows, Rypien, Lapierre, Bieksa ....

The calm before the storm ... Frolik should be a Hawk in 3 . 2 . 1 ...
- EbonyRaptor

Perhaps the Sikura can’t play in the NHL because he can’t find the back of the net advocates need to remember how Frolik started his Blackhawk career. I’m not saying that Sikura is Frolik, I’m simply saying that they both couldn’t hit the ocean from the pier early. They both played the game the right way while working through their scoring issues though.

NO WAY!!!! Someone actually watches a player before he or she posts!

And what I like about Sikura is he still played the right way and didn't try to force scoring a goal in what I'm sure was a frustrating time for him. That's called maturity and composure, two characteristics players need to succeed.

Don't forget Raffi Torres. Only played for them for one year, but his hit on Seabrook puts him on that list.

No - Marealu has a full NMC and only wants to play for San Jose who cannot afford him at even partial of his cap hit. Instead, Carolina will buy out him out so that Marleau can sign a new contract with San Jose. Carolina doesn't care that they'll have the full cap hit against them - they have a ton of cap room.

This is exactly what happened with Orpik just last season - Caps traded him to the Avs, Avs bought him out, and the Caps resigned him for only $1m.
