I agree, with most it is only June 26, for the sake of “what the heck “ and I know Tyler‘s projected lineup and his blog will not be the lineup hopefully that they start the season with but I’m going to compare the St. Louis/Boston final with the 12 forwards and gauge if they even make it into the arena Let alone the lineup.
Toews,Kane absolutely first line for either team.
Debrincat possibly first line but for sure second line for either team.
Strome, third or fourth line for either team .
Saad , At this point third line for either team.
Arty , probably third line depending on his intensity if he’s up to laying it out there every night.
Now let’s get to the good part,
Kampf, maybe, but maybe he squeaks into the fourth line depending on how his season went.
Perlini, unless he can use his God-given tools show some heart he is upstairs eating popcorn and hot dogs with the writers.
The drake, fourth line or bottom six, kid his heart, I would like to see him paired with Andrew Shaw back here.
Sikura?.....Outside the arena selling programs, or playing in a kids no check pick up hockey game next to Kathryn Tappan, JR, and Kevin weeks makeshift booth.
The other two? Who?
These guys want to get back to the promised land next year then they have to add at least two significant forwards. Once again I guess It May be a little early but starting to think about last year‘s fiasco After Bowman came out and talked a good game before the draft and last year’s free agency. And wind up with nothing. |

IMHO, this is what they should build around up front:
1. Toews/Kane/?
2. ADB/Strome/?
3. Saad/Caggiula/?(maybe AA if still there)
4. Kampf/Kubalik/?
I'm not sold on Perlini or Sikura - certainly not on top six - maybe enough rope will answer in time.
Defense....flip a coin. Big differences in who I would send out there if they are expected to play man to man versus zone. Bottom line for me is if they have Seabrook and Maata out there they had better not expect them to chase down fast forwards. |

Kubalik would be wasted on the 4th line. I’d move him to line 3. Wedin might be your line 4. |

Copp is not a Saad replacement - he has never even hit 30 points, worse at transition, passing, shot suppression, etc etc.
Not a bad addition, but not as good as Saad.
- L_B_R
But Saad is terrible. He doesn't score enough points, and that's the only thing that matters, right? |

Since Elliot re-signed with Phi for 1yr 2mil contract, do you think that would be a good deal for Ward and the Blackhawks? |
|
|
|
Why do people continue to want to pay Tanev - a 4th line WINGER (not even a center with versatility that can take faceoffs) 3 million dollars????
Kruger at 3mil was over paid, but at least he can take draws.
Sheez.
For the bottom 6...think Kunitz, Wingels, or other bargain shopping/reclamation project for this role. Stan is more likely to take that flier on a 1yr deal than give a 4th line RWer 3y deal at 3mil per (at least let's hope) - PatShart
Im with you like Tanev but 3 million is too much for a guy who has scored 14 , 8, and 2 goals the last 3 seasons .

Well you dont pay a guy 6mil to simply hustle.
Points/goals kind of matter when you're the 3rd highest paid forward and 4th highest paid player on the team |

I might be inclined to agree with you more if this is the roster come opening night in October. But... it’s only June 26. Stan’s done a decent job so far in adding value to the defense without creating any roster holes or heavy cap implications. Let’s give him some time to do the same with the forwards. - Chief4Feathers
This site has gone soft as butter in 100 degree temperatures. Posters now preaching Faith, Hope and Charity toward Stan all of a sudden. He's a loser who should have already rebuilt this team into the odds on favourite for next year's Cup. I'm confident there will be posts soon demanding his dismissal. |

Carolina is expected to buy out Marleau and make him a UFA. He's 39, but he still scored 16 goals last year. He hasn't missed a game since 2013, so he has been healthy. Would he be a better 1 year offer player than Perry? |

Next summer, they will have to make decisions on Strome, ADB, Crawford, and Gus. Strome/ADB will be a combined cap hit of $10-15 mill. Crow won't be any cheaper than his current cap hit if he can stay healthy and play well. Another season of 60 points by Gus, and his cap hit will go up. I know a lot of this board wants him traded already, but a legit PP QB doesn't exactly grow on trees. Until they have something comparable that is cost controlled, he will be needed, defense or no defense.
They only have 11 players under contract for the 2020-21 season, and they have ~$23 mill to spend, assuming the cap remains the same. It's pretty obvious that there will be a serious cap crunch if they can't unload some of the salaries.
The contracts that stick out in this are Seabrook, Saad, Anisimov, and Murphy. That's about $21 mill in cap hit there. Assuming that Seabrook can't be moved, and knowing that the buyout saves very little up front, that means about $14 mill more to work with instead. Now they're at $37 mill to allocate to 12 contracts. If the four guys I mentioned at the beginning get $20 mill of it, that leaves $17 mill for 8 guys. I guess that is doable. If the four guys are retained and they cost more, that could get interesting.
That's the road map as I see it, anyway. |

Lots of teams in worse cap trouble than the Hawks ever were without the Cups.
Stan has made some brilliant trades.
If Dach is a true blue #1 center eventually and helps the Hawks win again, bot much female doging left to do about Stan.
Admittedly I am usually #TeamStan.
We’ll see what happens the next 7 days for the roster . |

And going into last season, would you of considered Barbashev and Sundqvist being nhl players let alone effective 4th liners? Or that Zach Sanford as a rookie would force Alex Steen to a 4th line? So maybe Kubalik replaces Kahun's scoring, maybe Sikura does take the next step, maybe Brandon Hagel makes it and shows the scoring touch he had as an over age junior ? As far as last year's offseason, I just wish Bowman and the Hawks would of been honest and say it was a reload season.
Firing Q and the offseason moves they made proved that. Then Stan evaluated and through his trades so far has shown he has identified the weaknesses and tried to address them. Do I think they are a Stanley Cup contender? no. Do I think they are improved and can make the playoffs? yes. that is why they play the season, we will find out.
