Yeah, I don't know what he had done. Labrum tears can be played through. Evander Kane did it for years. Though his was his shoulder labrum. It depends on how bad it is. Maybe he was getting pegged and slipped and tore it more, we really have no idea why the timing is the way it is.

I have a thing at work that has me dealing with a guy who - besides his regular job - is also a high level high school hockey coach just outside Minneapolis. He coached against Housely when Phail was at Stillwater High School there.

He said "Housely was an insanely talented NHL defender. He is able to communicate and share ideas with other insanely talented NHL defenders. That's why he was successful in Nashville. But he cant COACH. And he doesn't know SYSTEMS. And he can't teach young kids how to play the game, either in high school or professionally. The high school he coached here got very successful immediately after he left. And when Buffalo hired him, he left the perfect situation for himself in Nashville, where all he had to do was manage an entire stable of other insanely talented NHL defenders."

The Colorado Avalanche have acquired Andre Burakovsky from the Washington Capitals in exchange for a 2020 second-round pick and a 2020 third-round selection.
Burakovsky can become a restricted free agent on July 1, but he's already received a qualifying offer, so he's likely to get a raise from his $3 million cap hit from 2018-19. That's a pretty significant cost given that he was limited to 12 goals and 25 points in 76 contests in 2018-19, which is presumably what motivated the Capitals to move him. For the Avalanche, this is a gamble, but one that could pay off handsomely. While he hasn't grown as hoped with Washington, he has a lot of upside and perhaps the change of scenery will serve him well
