Sign Donskoi, trade for Eakin and Miller.

Ok, where did I say we're good enough?

Why didn't 29 other teams better that "lame" offer?

Yet AGAIN, I'll say, no one knows what Botterill has going on. To criticize a non move without knowing what else is happening is pointless. But it's a message board, so have at it.

- Powerslave

Well said.

If October 1st comes around and we're looking at the same roster...complain away. For now, I wouldn't get too bent out of shape. Good chance in the next 2 weeks there are multiple moves made to improve this roster.

Very rarely do significant moves happen post 1st week of July.

We have pretty much a week to make significant moves to make this team much better.

You seem to be fine with this team currently, and not brining in players for very cheap that could plug in for secondary scoring is not needed.

As you said there is limited trade capital, so how are the Sabres going to acquire these assets for lesser prices as the well is drying up. As each player goes the price gets more and more expensive.

But don’t worry, we have Remi Ellie and Scott Wilson for “experience”

Using what capital? As others have stated there is not much to move and after signing the RFAs there is about 8mil in cap space as this roster stands.

This was the only trade that I really wanted in on

That one and the PK one to a lesser degree but I think that was more about the name than anything

If there isn't much done in the next 2 weeks then it could be a very long season

It's all about confidence

- Stripes77

it definitely is.

It just blows my mind. I don't have that level of self-confidence, as a hockey player or musician.

Maybe the musician side cancels it out.

I watch my friends run and gun all the time. It's out of my realm of possibility.

It's already a long off-season and it really hasn't even started yet.

What is frustrating on my end, is that we have similar pieces to what has been moved so far.

I'm just waiting to see what surgery Botterill has in mind.

Haula and Eakin were guys from Vegas that I wanted Botts to target

With Haula gone Eakin most likely stays

I thought those would be good 2C stop gaps we could get for cheap due to Vegas and their cap situation.

That's why I am annoyed. A guy I wanted them to get was dealt for peanuts.

If that's your threshold, don't you think you should wait to judge until that threshold has been met? I mean, food for thought.

A few random observations from watching d camp for 30 mins:

Cozens was smiling ear to ear the whole time

Tage went 1-6 shooting. Missed once, went low blocker 4 times (0fer) and had a beautiful top cheese shot

Brett Murray looks really big, and pretty decent quickness. Definitely looks like a prototypical GMTM player

Ruotsalainen is small, and didn't look overly fast. I would pump the brakes on him making the team.

Laaksonen is a smooth skater with a decent shot and good puck handling skills.

Borgen surprised me with his shot. It's really heavy

Ok, you need to stop putting words in my mouth. What aren't you getting? DO YOU KNOW FOR A FACT HE'S NOT GOING TO MAKE ANY TRADES OR SIGN ANYONE? If you do, share away and then we'll all piss and moan, and burn the arena to the ground, and then because no one will want to do the jail time, we'll all join hands at the bridge and jump.

And I think this team is fine becuase we didn't trade for Eric Haula? 😂😂😂 30 teams didn't win the Stanley Cup last year and EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM could have offered a sh!t package for him and "gotten better" based on his season of two years ago.

But they didn't.

Why?

Cozens is wearing #79. Not only is that an available number, it's been an available number since 1970.

See I read something completely different:

Brayton J. Wilson

Like what I’ve seen from Arttu Ruotsalainen so far. Skates pretty well, can thread the puck through some tight spaces. I think once he gets acclimated to the pace of play here with the speed and physicality, the #Sabres might have something here.

But that was yesterday so who knows haha

And
- SABRES 89

I work for the local government. I frequently have meetings with the Town Board. Projects and ideas fall out of their ass on a daily basis.

So, we investigate the projects, do our research and due diligence, go back to the board and say, ok, we need to do x, y and z, and here's the cost.

Wouldn't you know it, this is where the scoffing begins. And the project gets flushed down the toilet.

What I'm trying to say is, straight up trading for players like this, young RFAs that the team wants to build around, is going to cost a pretty (frank)ing penny. You don't want to move Ristolainen, that's fine. But get ready for an unprotected 1st and Casey Mittelstadt.

It's at least somewhat interesting that he wasn't with Krueger and Tpegs watching the kids. Must be holed up in the Bottcave working on something

34 points playing 12:44 a game

53 points playing 17:22 a game

He got 350 more mins of ice time in a season

same assist rate per 60 mins

The only thing that went up was his goal rate per 60 he went from .9 to 1.3 (probably because PP time)

Say he goes back to 2.1 points per 60 instead of his 2.5 he got in his full season in Vegas

13 mins a night 82 games 1066 mins 37 points

17 mins a night 82 games 1394 mins 49 points

So he didn't do anything crazy different, except play more

He showed he can play top 6 mins when he played in Vegas and do it well

- Stripes77

He did shoot at a 16.6% rate, which I doubt he would repeat (11.2 the previous year and 7.7 the year after before getting hurt). And while he did have a career year in Vegas with 53 points, he also managed to be on the ice for 80 goals against. Would you be happy if he was on the ice for more than a goal against every single game?
I understand some people want the Sabres to make every single trade, but this is getting a little carried away.
There will be better players available from the teams that are struggling with the cap.
The sky is not falling because we didn't trade for Haula.
