All of Murray's picks

Cornel

Why???
He might be 34, but he’s still producing at a near elite level
Unlike some of the other Vet scrubs i hear mentioned here too often (Perry, Simmonds, etc)

- jdfitz77

It was a joke, I posted that botts wanted to trade for his rights before the draft

So I understand that neither of us are privy to all discussions, so nothing is exact.

But what would you do with this roster, given that we have so little to trade away and only have cap space temporarily?

- RhinoFan

Let our prospects actually develop and not over react to poor coaching, a young 2C and horrendous second half goaltending

I get it

but..... AM and PT should get in over some of these guys

- homiedclown

Zubov, Mogilny, carbonneau, and Turgeon should have been the class.

if the goal is to get better, there is no reason to ever consider offering elie one of the 50 contracts we are limited to

That leaves Sean Malone, Eric Cornel, Jack Dougherty, and Brycen Martin out of the mix and into unrestricted free agency. Malone already signed a one year deal with Rochester.

- Stripes77

Not surprised about Elie. He went down to Rochester and played well and from what I remember he was liked by his coaching staff and teammates down there. He'll be back there imo.

Depends on what “big move” is available.

You’re one of the leaders of the “he can’t take back spare parts for Risto” people on this board.

If he holds onto him because no ones offering a legit, young top 6 player, are we then going to criticize his lack of a big move?

Are we going to get pissed he doesn’t sign a big UFA, while simultaneously criticizing Okposo’s contract on a daily basis?

Seems people want to have Tim Murray as their offseason GM, with the results just being wildly different

- OneKaneOneCup

Big move is doing literally anything address the major gaping hole on this team, which is the middle 6

How? Idk, I'm not a GM. But he is. And if he's not up for fixing that, then he shouldn't be a GM. It's year 3. If Chiarelli can somehow take the oilers to the playoffs in one of his years, then Botterill should be able to do the same.

To sit here and accept and expect to suck in year 3 is totally unacceptable

Seems like a decent number of people want a significant deal, don't want to deal anyone significant (Sam or Risto). They think we are a bottom 5 team, but are comfortable dealing away next year's 1st. Doesn't make much sense, if they really think we are that bad.

Damn, I really didnt want Larsson, Elie, and Girgensons back. I would have like to see Dougherty develop one more year.
- Mentalorgasm5

I liked Dougherty in his draft year
Haven’t seen him since college though

Larsson & Girgs seemed like obvious keepers after their pretty good defensive play last year
Until we have a legit Top9 center to take on the defensive work, those guys probably stick around

Elie... meh
He’ll be in Rochester those, so whatever

Just do something. Setting the bar at "nothing" isn't acceptable. Just put the inflatable autopilot from Airplane! At GM if that's the plan.

If his plan is "nothing," then I don't think he's cut out for this

Problem is at this point I want to see changes. Bringing back both Girgenons and Larsson limits those changes.

If the 4th line is Girgensons Larsson Okposo, I would like to see a complete new 3rd line.

You're not a GM, but you can say what you'd have in mind.

You going FA or trying to test trade market?

If FA, how much do we have to spend realistically? I know we have room this year, but not a lot of 1 year deals will be drawn up for top6 forwards either...

If trade, what do we have of significant value that we can afford to lose? Risto? Anything else? What's Risto worth you think? Based on what Subban got, what's a realistic return for Risto? By losing him do we just open up a RHD hole?

Not looking for answers to all or anything, just curious what you think a competent GM would do. I fully expect Botts will make multiple moves/signings.
