Keep freaking out over what’s said on a stupid chat board about a sports team you have no control over

Sounds healthy

Maybe you should go work with Pegula in building since both of you like to build, maybe you both can build a stanley cup out of concrete and 4 1st round picks and futures.

Way different time, with players and contracts. No comparison.
- SABRES 89

Sure...
but it just goes to show that NO ONE has ever given up 4 picks in the 1st
Not even for the best player ever

And why???
Bc it’s a bad freaking idea

Mitts + four 1sts
Or
Mitts + Risto

The 2nd option is WAY BETTER

And maybe you’ll become Botts’ replacement since you clearly know more than everyone else

Just be sure to bring in Lucic & Simmonds and remind us all how Kucherov isn’t that good

Sure give up Risto so we can watch Bogo, Scandella and Nelson fall flat on there face. Then we can have 456 blogs as to how it was a mistake to trade Risto.

Better then you 4 1st round F ing picks that will take 5 years to show anything they way this team develops players , and that's even if they do anything at all. Hello Nylander.

Trading Risto for Point though

Then use ONE of those 1sts to get a Risto replacement

Then we still have 3 more
we can use to draft promising talent
Or to even trade for other players

Either way

Point + 3 1sts + Risto replacement
is much better than
Point with Risto & losing the 4 1sts

Right?????

He talks everyday about building with young players, signing young players. Well Point is 23 and had 92 points, but yet he's worried about picks.

No it's not, you add good players not subtract, you keep Risto and add Point the hell with the goddamn picks.

They didn’t even give up 4 first rounders for Gretzky
- jdfitz77

You’re right they gave up 5
Jimmy Carson 2nd overall in 86
Martin Gelinas 7th overall in 88 (Gretzky was traded in August of 88)
1st rd in 89, 91, and 93
$15 million dollars

No, they gave up 3 picks
and 2 guys who were chosen in the 1st
Completely different

If we trade Girgs & Okposo to someone is that giving up 2 1sts???
Hell no

Why is Risto better than the guy we trade for with ONLY ONE of the 1sts?

He likely wouldn’t be defensively, that’s for sure

Risto replacement > Risto
Point > Mitts
Still have three 1sts

The only way that’s not better than trading all four 1sts is of the guy we trade for to replace Risto sucks
So we just gotta trade for someone good

I would rather spend 4 first round picks on a established player that you know will get 80 pts 30-40 goals then players that will take 3 years and could bust

And if you’re getting that kind of player I’m pretty sure the team will make sure that we are drafting really really late

Three 1sts + Risto replacement
is way the F better than having Risto and losing four 1sts

There is not ONE person on this site that will disagree with that... except you

You don’t think LA took Gelinas in June of 88 knowing they were moving the pick eventually to Edmonton and who they wanted for Gretzky 6 weeks later?

Come on you’re better than that.

For Point...

Four 1sts + Mitts
or
Risto + Mitts
then use only 1 pick to replace Risto

Which option would u prefer???

Still...
a prospect already drafted is NOT a 1st

Just like trading Mitts + four 1sts wouldn’t really be “five” 1sts

Also...
what is even the point of this part of the discussion???

If we can get Point WITHOUT giving up the four 1sts... then we should do that
It’s all I’m saying

Who knows what they would or wouldn’t do?

All this is hypothetical

Mitts + Risto (+ Cap Space) is a very good offer

It kind of is especially because he was just drafted and Gretzky was notified 2 hrs after winning the cup by his dad he was being shipped to LA, Detroit, and Vancouver.
Prelim talks were already ongoing, Gretzky got involved in the negotiations on his honeymoon in July. Told McNall that he’s only coming if McSorley and Krushelnyski come with him.

LA knew they weren’t keeping the player taken 7th overall.

I guess... anyways...
doesn’t really have any bearing on the topic being discussed

If I’m trading Mitts + for Point...
I’d rather have that “+” be Risto,
than the four 1sts

It’s a pretty rational choice

Which would you prefer???

Reports of Aho only being offered 6M on a 8yr deal from CAR.

What type of offer sheet would makes Dundon blink and think about taking the comp and not matching the deal?

Again kinda.

That trade effected the landscape of the NHL.

For instance, Edmonton used the 91 pick for Martin Rucinsky, who was then moved to Colorado for Tugnutt, and then moved from Colorado to Montreal as part of the package for ......

You guessed it, Patrick Roy.

Any trade of getting Point is going to put under a microscope harder than the ROR move IMO. This is for anyone thinking of moving 4 1st or Risto, Mitts, plus.
