Please enlighten me with evidence that a contending team could use Stepan or Dvorak in their top six and be a contending team.

Soderberg is a 34 year old player who isn't going to repeat his numbers from last year. If he plays with Keller, I sure as ___ hope it's because the Coyotes are tanking.

You are "absolutely frustrated" that you get "crappy takes" on this site, but what you're really saying is that you are annoyed that I don't mirror what you think, which is a preposterous standard to hold someone too, as you clearly are a genius.

The sad thing here is I don't think you're being ironic.

Please enlighten me how you know this? What crystal ball are you looking into? Fact is, you consistently present (incorrect) opinions as fact.

The author is not annoyed because you don't mirror what he thinks. That is what your echo chamber is for. Your takes are objectively crappy. There are statistics to back this up. If you can't find them, I'll be happy to make them up for you.

Finally, compared to you, he is a genius. So am I. I'm never wrong. As Cenk Uyger likes to say, "Look it up".

Gee how do I know that a 34 year old who just scored a career high in goals while shooting way above his career average shooting percentage, won't be able to match it?

The weird thing - and I've been saying this forever - is that Chayka has a reputation as an analytics guy, but he is really more of a renegade. He does a lot of things that are antithetical to the so-called analytics approach.

I've also never once treated him like he could do no wrong. I am constantly critical of each move on it's own merit.

You don't. That's my point. Do I have to break everything down and use small words for you?
Will he match or top his career highs in goals? Maybe, maybe not. But to state as fact that he won't is just arrogant. If you would just stop professing yourself to be infallible (big word, sorry) you might get a bit more of the respect you so desperately need.

"So what you're saying is" something different is always better? Change for the sake of change? Yeah, that's a great way to approach things.

You have a long history of treating him like he can do no wrong. While you occasionally criticize his moves, all you can ever offer is "this is stupid" without any actual, real reasoning other than the aforementioned (another big word, sorry) opinion stated as fact.

I generally agree with you Tanner but I think you whiffed in this analysis.
Of course Soderberg won’t score at the rate he did last year, and of course we would love an elite player, but that doesn’t make this a bad trade.

Connauton is near worthless for the coyotes, and the 3rd rounder he could easily recoup if needed. So we really talking about the $2.8M delta between Kevin and Carl. And what do you get for that $2.8? A net front presence that the coyotes sorely lacked, durability that the coyotes sorely lacked, a great culture guy which Chayka highly rates in his value models, and a responsible forward that can help reinforce the way the game should be played for the young guys.

It’s not “the best trade of the summer” but by no means is it a bad trade. He is taking Archibald or Cousins spot, and that is a significant upgrade. And we still have the cap space to get someone like a Nyquist. I think if Panarin/Duchene/Karlsson would’ve come to AZ then he doesn’t spend the cap space, but knowing they aren’t jet gets Soderberg and Nyquist to complement a surging lineup!

Also, your comments on the top 10% impacting a game so the bottom 90% should be young guys with upside...etc etc. I am sorry, but that is completely misunderstanding stats and analytics. If research that a little bit more and study aggregation theory and how to build incremental accuracy in a regression model. Of course elite talent has a big impact but the difference between the cup teams and the playoff hopefuls (both of which will have elite talent) is the incremental value that the rest of the lineup brings, in a league with so much parity.
