What was the listed reason they didn't do 3oa + Seabrook for 10oa??
Seems like a slam dunk |

Right. One of the best if not the best available is what i meant. Pionk is nothing special. The cost was similar to Miller, for a better player |

I would probably think because Seabrook said last year he doesn't want to waive. Or the deal was false or Seabrook sucks .
Pick anyone . They are all good excuses.

It’s not. Seabrook has regressed tremendously and that trend will continue. He’s too slow for today’s game. Good as byram is, 5 years of a regressing old dman would have been tough to watch |

Yeah I heard there was no truth to this as well. I did hear speculation that Canucks did talk to Colorado for no. 4 and Detroit for no. 6. And if Vasili wasn't available at 10 - to trade down. - 93Nucks
ahhh. Makes sense. Otherwise it'd be done |

It would be a terrible deal imo. Also it’s not a real offer |

Appears that "trade" was bullpoop; regardless 2 or 3 yrs of Seabrook then he "retires" or is bought out??? |

NYR reported strategy in UFA is to offer no more than 2yrs on anyone not named Panarin. They get it. Awesome offseason for them already & with that approach it won’t get ruined by a stupid investment. - DrChristianTroy
Gorton is a very very good hockey guy. |

Certainly hearing of lots of activity regarding the #Canucks trying to trade RFA Ben Hutton. Let’s see if they can get it done by the 2:00 deadline.

Clever strategy waiting until the final hour to try and get this done. Trying to catch other GM's off guard and stuff. |

One theory is the team never explored trading him at all and decided to pursue this option two hours before the deadline. Another is they haven’t been Able to trade him for over a year and they are using Rick D to create some chatter around Hutton |

They are also literally gift wrapped prospects falling out of the sky like Vessey Fox Trouba. Would doesn't want to play in NY?

Det needed a Dman in a bad way. I think it was a smart move. I think Seider will turn out to be a very good pick and so will Brogerg.

I would let him walk and in two years Edler is done and Canucks will have gotten rid of the two worst dancers in the NHL. |

Indeed but Gorton made that possible. Look what he did with Boston. It wasn't Chiapet or Jimbo. |

Heard over the weekend that #Canucks & #Blackhawks had discussed swapping the 3rd and 10th overall picks so Vancouver could jump up to get Bowen Byram, but Chicago wanted Van to take D Brent Seabrook and the remaining 5 years/$6.875M AAV on his contract. Thus the deal died.
-James Cybulski
Sounds like Canucks were interested in moving up until Seabrook came into discussion

Its come around for them. Went from laughing stock and dealing with good players wanting out like Duchene and OReilly, to having a solid group of players and prospects. If they are managed well, they could be dangerous for a long time |

Yes but I think they could have traded down and still have taken Seider. But after seeing the combine results, kid will be a great pick in theory. |

Buyouts are twice the term. So 4-6 years of 3.5 mil on a buyout. No thanks! |
