As I just said, in the post you quoted, I'm prepared. I don't like it, but expect it to happen. Jim "all in" Benning is going to town.

If anyone is denial that Myers will be a canuck this time next week, then its time to hit the liquor store up before the Canada Day rush because you might need to hit the hard stuff on Monday....

Will the we want change group freak out if Hutton signs a 2 year $4.7m contract in Vancouver? Apparently Canucks will try to Pouliot him into a Stecher like deal.

Don't see the point in keeping him at all - with Sautner, Brisebois and Juolevi all being better options and cheaper.

I agree with this, there’s enough replacement guys waiting that losing him isn’t a big deal.

Yeah, don't know, "reports" are the team will try and sign him to a lower $ contract.

My bet is he signs on with the Leafs for a low dollar 1 year deal, replaces Gardiner, has enough success (on a good team) to get himself a longer deal next year.

That or he ends up in the KHL...

I'm not so sure any of those 3 would put up better offensive numbers than Hutton but as a 3rd pairing guy I'd expect any of them to play better defensively and in that role/slot to me it's more beneficial.

It might cover a lot of ice if they are lying on it, but Hughes at 5'11" covers more ice than 14' of Myers/Tryamkin combined.

No, wingspan wise. Tree covered 2/3 of the blue line.

Florida, Minny, Dallas off the top of my head are teams that are short on LD - I could see him landing a better contract than what JB should be willing to offer him.

They can get offence from a top four guy, third pairing guys who are -25 can be replaced. I think Hutton played a lot of minutes, second to only Edler, that’s a huge issue and that’s on Benning for not addressing this last summer.

People are so use to the puck being in the Canucks end and wonder HTF does Myesrs stop goals from being scored against us? I think JB is trying to build a team that now plays in the other end. ? That is my guess.
- VANTEL

Pretty sure Myers can move pretty much anyone parked out front to our net. At the other end he'd be great at screens

so, the answer is being in a perpetual cycle of trading players when they have value so you dont lose them for nothing?

How would you ever win a cup that way? Guess we should trade Pettersson now while he still has value....

- chompsey

That's right. It doesn't matter how many times it's pointed out either. No end to that lunacy

I really dont think this is accurate. JB talked about the Det pick almost guaranteeing one of a couple of their guys would be there at 10 and decided not to do the trade down. We know Pod was one. I'm assuming the other was Zegras.

I think everyone knew Broberg was going 8th further securing JB one of their guys.

- boonerbuck

Benning and Brackett badly wanted zegras. They looked like they were about to cry

That there is a very fair criticism of Benning. I support JB on most issues but he definitely dropped the ball last summer on fixing the D...

You know for a fact that no matter what there will be half that hate what is going on. I could not believe how many people were screaming about losing Hutton yesterday.

What a joke.

- VANTEL

Idiots!
People forget that cap space is valuable. "We lost him for nothing." No, you lost him for cap space to sign another player who can play in the NHL.
Also, you can't trade players that no one else wants. The stupidity of this fan base never ceases to amaze me.

The standard hockey rink is 85' wide. 2/3 of 85' is 56'8". The radius of branches for a 300 year old Gary Oak might cover 2/3 of the blue line, but Tree-amkin certainly does not.

Tall useless d men are still useless. They're tall though, I'll give them that...

Or at the very least, starting to fix it. Rome (Aaron) wasn't built in a day.
