Welcome to Toronto Jordie Benn!

Well give you a slightly used Garret Sparks and the always helpful 'a player to be named later'

I think Rosen is an NHLer.

Rielly Zaitsev
Muzzin Rosen
Dermott Liljegren
Borgman.

Sandin makes the team while Dermott is out.

That's a defence on year one of a rebuild. The year where you don't care where you end up, just want to see what you have.

So you don't like that Dubas got rid of Marleau for a 1st round draft pick, but you think it would be easy to get rid of a dead contract that isn't insured?

OK, Chief.

- Atomic Wedgie

hey chief, apparently carolina is going to be buying out marleau or at least that was initial report.

Just read the list of the new HOFers. Boy is Paul Marner gonna be pissed. Mitch was passed over, AGAIN!

I thought Borgman was fine when he was up that first year. Surely he can play, at least better than Marincin/Holl. Sandin is ready imo. Liljegren we’ll see.

They just need one more 4d and they should be able to make it work.

You can't buy out Horton - he's injured.

horton has 1 year left on his contract at 5.3, marleau's cap hit was 6.25 million.
- SP da GHOST

you don't get it

In your mind why is Hortons contract an issue?

but that team would have to pay Horton's full salary, it wouldn't be covered by insurance.. So, what type of "sweetener" would need to be added?
Sandin? Liljegren? Bracco? Nylander?

- PatC80

the leafs found a team willing to apparently buyout marleau. what's really the difference?

Also you can bury his contract on LTIR, even if it does limit the team's flexibility in season, whereas Marleau was 35+ (I know you know this). So they are totally different circumstances.

They will ice a team, but the big boy veteran forwards in the east will tear them apart. I think that's why we don't generally see multiple rookies debut in one season on defence in particular. Unless it's a year one lets see what we have scenario.

I would be nervous to go into this season with that defence.

30 minutes ago, you were angry with Dubas for getting rid of Marleau, because the price was too high.

Now you want to get rid of Horton, at any price, when they can just put him in LTIR and the cap hit basically goes away.

Have you been day drinking?

I love day drinking.

I must admit, I did not see Guy Carbonneau's nomination coming.

If our goalie coach can turn Anti Niemi into a somewhat decent backup for a few months, he might do wonder with Sparks!

I'll confess I'm the last guy you want to rely on for evaluating Marlies' talent, but from what I saw (a couple of games live, a couple more on TV) and from what I've heard, Sandin is ahead of Lilybust on the development chart now.

And both looked shaky in the AHL playoffs.
