Offer sheets for Aho and Barzal are indeed ruled out because the Leafs don't have their 1st round pick.

Also, if they can't afford Marner, they probably can't afford those guys either.

They have 13 million in cap space with 11 forwards, 8 D and 2 goalies.

Why would they be stupid to offer sheet Marner when their need for offense is much bigger than late 1st round picks while their window of opportunity is still open?

Not true. You need to have 4 picks in the next 5 years. Also, think you could get those guys under the 4 first picks threshold. Especially Aho, as Carolina is an internal cap team. And still have cap space to bring in a depth defenseman.
