Eh, I dunno. Sid Sexerio ripped the Kadri contract good the day he signed it. Some liked it, but it wasn't viewed at all like it is today.

Point is, there was no low-balling him given salaries and his 17 goal, 45 point season.

The real key in Kadri that year-And it'll happen next year with Nylander guys, Kadri had an unsustainably low shooting % in 2015-16. That's a big reason his stats rose since.

Willy shot 5% last year. Look out. 25 goals, 70 points mimimum,

- RogerRoeper

Most thought the kadri deal was good long term. Sid can suck it, his opinions are sh!t most of the time

Who was it who mapped out the Marner contract guesses?

We need to also do it for Gardiner.

I wanted Gardiner to stay in Toronto.

But Lordy, Lordy, Lordy, some idiot GM is going to offer him big money X long term, and it's going to be a plane exploding over Chernobyl, and crashing into the dumpster bin that holds the nuclear waste.

It's happening.

I've made my peace with it.

He'll look good next to Weber and will make the team better.

Will make me rage when he does his usual brain cramps.

Will be overpaid for what he brings.

I'm not happy but I'm making the best of it.

- Scabeh

Well leave that unhappiness in a different thread

we like joy here even if it is artificial and brings us pain.

Honestly Wedgie: No biggie, Marner will get what he gets, hopefully he's a leaf next year. The dark days of the Leafs were not so long ago.

If we had selected Laine, we could give him a new contract 8 years X $6.5 million.

Think of all the cap space we would have.

Fire Dubas.

- Atomic Wedgie

our only hope is for marner to get an offsheet for +10.5M. that way we can overpay laine on an offer sheet at $8.5M. works out to:

marner, a 2nd and a 3rd for laine and 2 1sts, +$2M cap space

Plus, we could afford to take on a full contract like P.K Subban.

Lousy Dubas..

I still can't believe that he couldn't convince Sundin to waive his NMC. It's like he didn't even try..

I'm hoping it's Bergevin and I hope it's 7x8. That way it'll expire at the same time as Weber's contract. Think of it as a social experiment. How many games will it take for Price to develop a nervous tic? How bad will that tic be before their mutual deals expire?

If Dubas didn't have such a fetish for puck-moving defencemen, and had just got a shot-blocker, maybe that guy could have stood in front of the assassination of Archduke Ferdinand, and we don't have to go through the First World War.

How many more mistakes can we afford to allow Dubas to make?

Not true.

You just need 4 over the next 5 years.

We went over this yesterday.

Listen, we'll gladly pitch in a 1.5M of his cap hit as long as he is guaranteed to play in any game 7 against us.

Speaking of disingenuous, Friedman said he thinks the Leafs were really close on P.K Subban

I don't understand how that's even possible. Unless of course Nylander was involved and there was some salary retention. I don't think I'd have been a fan of that move for the Leafs.
