I checked and Matthews played 130 games out of 164 regular season games - so I answered my own question (I thought Matthews was actually less injured).
My point was that with Marner (who played 164 out of 164 games last two seasons) that his last 120 (or so) games out of those 164 he stepped things up pointwise..
so your comparison is somewhat difficult due to Matthews' injuries.

He'll look good next to Weber and will make the team better.

No-compete-Nylander can go; rather keep Marner .
Nota bene: 35 out of 92 of Point's points were on the PP - 57 even strength points.
Marner had 69 even strength points (and 21 on the PP).

With a better powerplay next season (Leafs should add Anders Lee or another guy that can play like JVR on the PP) Marner will compete with McDavid and Matthews for most points in league.

As a Jets fan I truly hope the Leafs and Avs don’t realize how a deal (Around!!! Not saying one for one so don’t flip out!!!) Makar for Marner would work for both teams and absolutely make them both better overall teams.

Would have to look at ATOI though to have a better comparison on points (not on team outcome RR - before you start yelling about Babcock again!!) - McDavid (and some other guys on that list as well) are consistently getting 2-4 more minutes of icetime per game than Marner and Matthews.

I really think Leafs will proceed to trade Kadri for a PK-ing #3C and play top 2 FW lines 2-3minutes more, and other guys less.
