And salaries were so much lower. It just looks fantastic in retrospect because of high high salaries went. No one really thought these deals were all that great in 2016.

It's still only a $5.13m contract by the current cap. It was a very good value. So much so that everyone was impressed at the time without even having to debate it!

The interesting part about Marner is that he has made incredible progress (pointwise and otherwise) the last 1 1/2 season.

In last 120 games, he's one of the top performers (probably only after McDavid) in even strength points in the league.

It's still only a $5.13m contract by the current cap. It was a very good value. So much so that everyone was impressed at the time without even having to debate it!

Eh, I dunno. Sid Sexerio ripped the Kadri contract good the day he signed it. Some liked it, but it wasn't viewed at all like it is today.

Point is, there was no low-balling him given salaries and his 17 goal, 45 point season.

The real key in Kadri that year-And it'll happen next year with Nylander guys, Kadri had an unsustainably low shooting % in 2015-16. That's a big reason his stats rose since.

Marner's a stud, but it's not insulting Leafs offer him 10 million at all.

From all evidence, Carolina is losing a lot of $$. That 6 million per offer to Aho isn't smart at all.

because Marner all of a sudden was playing lights out 2nd half of last season, and then continued on that level last season.
if he continues that level of play, he's an 11mln AAV player (5-6y deal).
If not, an 8-9mln AAV player.
I would bet on the first option personally.

Hearing a deal could be in place...The Kings and Oilers are the two teams I am hearing the most...I have also heard an odd rumor in the last hour regarding Zaitsev to Tampa. I would be a little surprised to see Toronto move him in the division however..

You can do it in Natural Stat Trick with the filters. Pick your game range "By Team Games", Last 120 Games.

At Even Strength, in Pts/60, marner is 8th; Matthews is 7th. At Even Strength in points, he's 9th.

In 5v5, he's 10th in points and 12th in P/60.

Still think we need to move someone to make room for some defensive help. Kapanen has a pretty movable contract now. He'd generate a decent return.
