I had suggested that if the Isles have trouble attracting an UFA and lose Anders Lee then something like Kadri + NZ for Pulock + Csizikas.

Nice Lawman !! Leafs would save $3.65m as well. Kadri being the best player
in the deal & we save cap space maybe the Leafs would need to send a mid-round
& late-round pick the other way.

I'm proposing that every morning we have a Mike in Buffalo Yoga/Meditation session around 8am followed by a 9am posting of our agreed statement of fact. Every morning we cut and paste the post that sets out the agreed facts about various topics (for example everything we know to be true about the Marner story). We then enter a blood pact wherein we all agree not to contradict the agreed statement of fact. Whenever some poster asserts something contrary to the agreed statement of facts we kill him/her.

You are talking about maturity level 5.

HB is at maturity level 1

At maturity level 1, processes are usually ad hoc and chaotic. The organization usually does not provide a stable environment. Success in these organizations depends on the competence and heroics of the people in the organization and not on the use of proven processes.

The minute Myers signs a contract, Zaitsev's value skyrockets.

Of course, it also franks the Leafs, because it means we will need to give more to get a defenceman or two.

Wedgie, we are dumpster diving anyway, for any players.

if dubas can turn around and offer sheet the poop out of other teams, a 10.5 marner offer sheet could work out pretty well:

pointe/laine- ~9.5M for 2 1sts, 2nd, 3rd
or

McAvoy/Provorov/Werenski/connor - ~8.6M for 2 1sts, 2nd, 3rd
labanc ~4.2m for a 2nd
or

carlo - ~4.2M for a 2nd
Meir - ~6.2M for a 1st, 3rd

Well Carbo is a 3 times Selke winner.... and was used to counter many great players in 80's and 90's (most of them would be driven insane by Carbo's smart defensive play back in the days... just ask Peter Stastny). He, along with Bob Gainey, perfected the defensive forward role.

This being said, I still would have picked Pierre Turgeon over him for HHOF at this point.

I would go for Carbonneau between those 2.

Or Roenick, or Fleury, or Mogilny? Or, a whole lot more
- PatC80

Mogilny

My favourite player ever.

... although Sundin came close.

And in a weird sort of way, the builder category, too.

His defection really forced the issue with the Soviet Union - it was the crack in the dam that started the migration of Soviet players to the NHL.

Yes, it was an inevitability, but I really think Mogilny pushed the timetable up by a couple of years.

James Tanner is my financial advisor.

Did he tell you that the more transactions you make, or come close to making, the more wealthy you will become.

The outcome of the transaction doesn't matter.

look at the mess mr. kylie dumbass has created.

-first off, he should have traded gardiner before last season ever started, now he's walking for nothing.
-if gardiner is not here all season, zaitsev's role on the defense increases and he probably doesn't ask to be traded now.
-he let nylander take half a season off before basically giving him what he wanted.
-he didn't load up particularly on defense for a run at the cup at the deadline.
-signed tavares for 11 million because ownership wanted him then gave matthews 11.6 million.
-didn't extend marner before the season started now he's gonna have to cave to marner to keep him, how can you trade marner right now?
-lack of due diligence for almost a full year has now cost the team a first round pick and patrick marleau to get rid of marleau's contract to pay everyone else.
-the nathan horton 5.3 million dollar contract is still a thing that toronto owns.

now after having created all this mess the only right move to make right now is to trade nylander for as much defenseman as you can get for him and it better be a very good one, then sign marner, kapanen and johnsson.

why trade nylander over marner? because nylander actually stayed home for almost a third of the season doubling down on getting the contract he wanted over his teammates on an up and coming team. AND because of the three matthews, marner and nylander his game is the one that is taking the longest to develop into a consistent elite scoring forward and he has benefited from playing alongside matthews almost the entire time matthews has been a leaf.

the other option is to move kadri with zaitsev, but then what do you replace kadri with?
