So you don't like that Dubas got rid of Marleau for a 1st round draft pick, but you think it would be easy to get rid of a dead contract that isn't insured?
OK, Chief.

hey chief, apparently carolina is going to be buying out marleau or at least that was initial report.
Kinda sounds like you did. |

I'm betting the latter. |

no it doesn't.
carolina would still have to payout marleau's buyout and have it on the cap for 2 seasons. hypothetically speaking if the same deal was made for horton instead of marleau, carolina could just let horton's contract rot for a season and be done with it. |

Nope. Marleau’s cap hit would only be this year because it’s a 35+ contract. |

I think you need to learn the business aspect of the NHL.
Marleau costs the Canes 4 million in actual salary. They could give two poops about the cap hit.
They bought a 1st for 4 million dollars.
The Buffalo GM was quoted saying Carolina payed a stupid price and would never pay 4 million for a first round pick.
The leafs are lucky they make so much money they really don’t care but for 90% of teams in the NHL 4 million is a lot of money. |

You said dubas shouldn’t be an NHL GM for having an opinion.
So I came back and said the same thing about you. |
