Dahlstrom can go back to Rockford, unless I’m wrong? So we have 8 Dmen. With de Haan he may or may not be ready by camp or the start of the season. Worst case scenario he won’t debut till November. So we have 7. We don’t need to move anyone right now.

We are in the position of power. Let the desperate come to us.

Yes other teams may he coming to the Hawks for D help. If I wasn't clear in my earlier post Murphy/Gus or as part of a package, won't be traded for a bag of pucks. They would be traded for players to make the team BETTER.

LOVE this trade for the Hawks. We traded spare parts for legit NHL D-Man with a decent contract compared to what guys in FA are gonna get (thank the hockey gods Bowman decided not to go that route). Health concerns are gonna be there with de Haan and Matta too but both fit the bill of what this team needed BADLY.

I'm leary about this Kessel rumor BUT if we're talking AA + for Kessel that's something that they should seriously consider doing. Helps Pittsburgh get some cap relief and we get the better player on top of it.

Next thing to do is hit up Vegas and see what we could poach from them as well...

Cags-Toews-Kane
Cat-Strome-Kessel
Saad-Eakin-???

Keith-Gus

That's starting to look more like a playoff roster. Exciting times for Hawks fans

I remember back in the day when people were convinced Brett Hull was eventually destined to play for the Hawks.
- Ogilthorpe2

If it wasn't for Pully he might have. Pully didn't want Bobby hanging around. Stan too (they hated each other). Ron Caron was a management guy for St. Louis and knew Brett was leaving and advised him that Chicago was in for tough times. IIRC, the hawks wound up signing Doug Gilmour. I said at the time they either sign both Hull and Gilmour or neither. Who was going to pass to Hull, or who was going to shoot when Gilmour passed the puck. Complete waste signing Gilmour only.

I’ve got a hunch that #7 is on the move. Just as improbable as it was for the Hawks to win the #3 pick in the draft lottery, can the immovable contract of Seabrook be shipped out??? Seems to be too much salary in the bottom 2 defense pairs right now and Murphy is just entering his prime so I wouldn’t want to move him....

Fleece Vegas for Eakin and Gusev for Dahlstrom and a draft pick and trade Anisimov in a separate move. Dach and Jokiharju make the team.

I don’t see anyone taking on Seabrook without a significant sweetener. I wouldn’t part with Jokiharju or Boqvist just to move Seabrook.

Seabrook is likely a 3rd pairing d-man or 7th.

Seabrook retires from the ice and goes on the Hawks bench to be Defense/PK coach for $7mil a year

I have a hard time believing the Hawks will pay Seabrook almost 7M to be a 7th defenseman.

*insert Power Enforcer Voice*

Every other team exploits the cap - just wait for the league to crack down on solely the Hawks for this.

We spent over $8.5M on 2 defencemen. That is a lot of dough, not a bargain as people are suggesting for a couple of marginal top 4 D with recent injury questions. Might we not have been better off to get one good one (Subban) for the same money?

Man, Bowman has really put his neck on the line if this does not pan out.

- 67hawks

Subban by everyone,s account had a down year last year. He also was injured (back) He has a lot of miles on him also. Every trade is a risk. The Hawks needed at least 2 top 4 or a solid #5 defenseman. Spending $9 mil. On one as opposed to eight million on 2 is a better allocation of available cap space IMHO.

I see what he's doing too, but I'm keeping my skepticals on about both acquisitions.
- I Am The Breadman

No need to be skeptical breadman....hawks just went from 30th GA to better than 15th in GA with these 2 trades, I promise you. My promises I promise don’t really mean sh$t....I am 💯 certain though they have made the blackhawks better defensively.

I imagine if a trade was made, Pitt would have to give us a sweetener to make it worth our while. Have to admit he'd look good on the same line as Kane
- BetweenTheDots

If there is some validity to this rumor then most certainly it’s centered around gus

They're going to pay him $7M ($6.8M) to be on the roster. If the team is better with him playing - then he plays. If the team is better when someone else plays in place of Seabrook - then he sits out as the 7th d-man on the roster. So they're not actually paying him to be the 7th d-man - they're paying him to be better than the 7th d-man but if he isn't - they're stuck with him.

I’ve blocked that period out.

They sent Gilmour and dumont to buffalo for a turd. I just can’t remember the turds name.

Or maybe it was Sullivan with 92/17.

It was Grosek. I remember him because he had a decent run with Buffalo during the playoffs, but yes, he wasn’t very good once he came to Chicago.

Kilger came back in the Carney trade.

Those were some dark years - front office didn’t have a clue, or a care for that matter.

I left him off since he's gonna miss the first few months of the year. He's basically a mid season trade for us once he comes back

Seabrook for Lou or Reimer?? If Bob goes south they'll need to get rid of one of their Goalies. Might make some sense to get a vet to compete with Delia in camp. Just spit balling. Doubt a Seabrook deal happens because well we already know why but if he was gonna go the only places that make sense are Vancouver (not happening as they didn't even want Byram that bad) or Florida because of Q

Considering odds were neither Forsling or Forsberg would have played for the Hawks this was a really good trade. Not sure why Carolina went through with it, unless they really needed the cap room.

I see a lot of talk about where offense from the Dmen will come from if Gus is traded. One year of offensive production does not make Gus a sure thing. Yes his offense was good last year, but what if the production isn't there this year?
