That would be even better ,think DBC looking at Marner money or close .Maybe see what Laine get's
Ya I would love to see Stan get proactive ,not go big in FA sign a couple grinders PK guy whatever .Lock up the kids a for a decent price and term .If there another trade Stan may ignore FA altogether

In this era of offersheeting RFA’s,any chance Bowman would look into throwing one Mathew Tkachuk’s way? Looks like those negotiations over there in Calgary are heading for a real crap storm.
My opinion, it would be a kid that I would invest big money in, 22 years old and a potential to be a face of a franchise. Damn straight, let Calgary have the four first-round picks that or whatever the compensation is.
If it’s a tossup between this kid, and there was ever a real potential to land him or worrying about Dylan Strome and Debrincats potential contracts , it would be an easy decision for me .
I still wish Bowman would’ve found away last summer draft his brother Brady. Both of those kids are going to turn out to be way better hockey players ,way better careers then either Strome ,Debrincat maybe, and Boqvist. No drinking BLACKHAWKS Kool-Aid there .

Yes!
And when he nominates ol Davey, Rain Main will be the 1st to do so singing this song (Rain Man, brought this out of the mothballs just for you!):

“The Ballad of Davey Bolland” (by Savvyone)
(sung to the tune of “Wreck of The Edmund Fitzgerald”)

The legend lives on from the UC on down
Of the player they call-ed "The Rat."
“The Rat”, it is told, is always playoff gold
When the season of hockey turns frightening.
With a aching old back and a melon made mush
You know that this rat is hurting.
With a groin that is pulled, how did this happen to you
In the season that saw Hawks win plenty.

“The Rat” was the pride of the Blackhawks side
Coming back from all of his inj’ries.
As this hockey player goes, he was more hurt than most
And his legend lived on for seasons.
Including this year when he played a new role
And was the new 2nd line center.
Well the Hawks soon found out his legend was for naught,
Fourteen points was all he could muster.

Could it be true, “The Rat” was only foolin’ you
With his playoff performances before then.
Now he was broke and couldn’t be fixed
Yet Q kept trottin’ him out there.
His fans couldn’t believe “The Rat” was but gone
When his injuries were not gonna’ be healing.
Like a ship good and true, it’s “The Rat” and Q
That will be thrown overboard at the end of this season.

The legend lives on from the UC on down
Of the player they called "The Rat."
“The Rat”, it is told, is always playoff gold
When the season of hockey turns bold.
With a aching old back and a melon made mush
You know that this rat is hurting.
Now a groin that is pulled, what more can happen to you
In the season that saw them come up empty.

Stan won’t be participating in any offer sheets. He wants to build depth throughout the lineup, not add another $10+ million forward. Adding de Haan and Maatta have been about depth. Stan says he wants to improve the depth at forward next, preferably with players who have one year left on their current contract (ie Frolik).

While Tkachuk may be better than Strome or Debrint (note: they play different games so it’s not a direct comparison) the one area he doesn’t help with is team chemistry. The championship years were filled with guys who were like family and wanted to play for each other. Guys like Bolland, Shaw, Oduya and Hjalmarsson were all warriors and that’s what Stan needs to find. I’m not taking away anything from Tkachuk, he’s great, but the Hawks need something different.

Incorrect Boqvist was drafted out of Brynäs IF. He is 100% eligible to play in the AHL.

Beaudin will be eligible to play in the AHL this season as well.

Yup. Nothing against ADB but projecting a massive increase in salary based on regular season numbers without ever doing a thing in the playoffs is ridiculous. These idiot GMs need to start discounting regular season stats and focus on when and how teams really win.

There is going g to be a large number of unsigned RFAs this summer as their agents try to rationalize $9 and $10M salaries based on these silly regular season stats (Marner, Tcachuk, Rantonen, Laine, Connor). They might still be unsigned in September.

I just remember old man Chara cuffing Marner a couple of times early in the playoff series and he disappeared for tje rest of the games. Same thing when Johnny Hockey got a finger booboo and Nathan Maclinnon wouldnt let him have the puck. Thanks for all your regular season easy points, what are you going to do for us when showtime is over and the games really count?

Ok guys, worth repeating again....Boqvist is not eligible to play in the AHL this year. It's NHL or juniors, he cannot go to Rockford, so it's a moot point.
- Budi1782

Boqvist is eligible for the AHL. He’s a European player who was on loan to the OHL last year. He could have actually played in the AHL last season however the Hawks felt that the OHL was a better development path for him.

He’s not, he’s only eligible for the NHL.
But he’s made the roster, along with Dach.
Plan the parade.

The offer sheet aint goona happen but Tkachuk is the only one of all these RFAs that I would think about paying Toews/Kane money to. He is like a wild thoroughbred that needs some taming but a team can win with big nasty guys like him leading the way. Most of the new age skilled pipsqueaks are playing at the World Championships in early May.

Rockford could have a solid defense next year - Beaudin, Boqvist, Jokiharju and Krys. Not to mention Gilbert, Carlsson and possibly Dahlstrom.

Eligible or not, if Boqvist isn NHL ready (which is likely the case) I bet he’ll play another season in London.

Offer sheets are too much of a taboo and the penalties are way too high. The next CBA should work on making the penalties lower so offer sheets might actually be used once in a while.

Darth wonder if hawks could get frolk or shaw for AA I m not in favor of bring the old hawks back I would make an exception for those two. If not AA then what take to get one of those players?

I'm looking forward to training camp and the Traverse City tourney. Really love to see a d-pairing of Beaudin-Boqvist at Traverse City so they can gain some chemistry together. If so, then hopefully they carry that into training camp and then to Rockford.

I could see Anisimov being flipped for picks post-7/1 then Frolik being acquired for picks. I don’t see a straight up swap, the Hawks will need to move AA to another team.

I don’t see Shaw returning, he has too much term left on his deal and he’s too injury prone given his style of play.

Looking at the cap situation, they will have around $5M after signing the RFA's to fill out a 22-man roster. Trading Anisimov and acquiring Frolik are essentially Cap neutral so they'll still have about $5M in cap space - but, they will have moved $4.5M off the 2020/21 cap because Anisimov has 2 years left whereas Frolik's $4.3M comes off the books after the 2019/20 season. Now, if they can find another useful forward for under $5M with only 1 year remaining on his contract - let's say Eakin with his $3.85M. That would be ideal to have $8.15M ($4.3M + $3.85M) come off the cap after 2019/20 - right in time to pony up dough to re-sign Cat/Strome.

Frolik and Eakin are the type of players we're looking for to make us "harder to play against". Forlik immediately makes the PK better. Eakin can play center if Dach or Kampf falters or he would be very good as a bottom-6 winger.

Toews and Strome at 1C/2C, then either Dach/Eakin at 3C and either Eakin/Kampf at 4C. That's not "silly good" center strength but it's not bad.

If your drafted out of a Canadian Hockey League you can not enter the Ahl until you are 20. If your drafted out of a professional league in Europe or a collegiate player and you turn down your NCAA eligibility you can play in the AHL.
Boqvist was drafted out of the SHL making him eligible to play in the A.

interesting schedule
home heavy in October and March
Road heavy in December and February
So, start strong, hang in there in the middle months of the season then go on a winning streak to close out the year.
