Reaves minutes actually dropped in the playoffs for Vegas and then he only played in 10 games during their run in 2018, though. How useful is a player to a coach that gets their minutes dropped below their already low 10 min a night and then they don't even want him for more than half the games?
Some of y'all really need to raise your standards. - L_B_R fair points again using reevrs as a type of player hawks need big physical forechecking forward maybe reeves was the wrong example.

Why is anyone thinking Debrincat or Strome will be asking for in the $8-9m range? Neither have produced like Marner so it's not their best comparison. Their RFA player comps are a bit lower than that.
Their comps are in the $6x6m range, give or take $1m and 1 years. Debrincat would be on the higher end, maybe Taraenko money and term, but Strome would likely be in the Scheifele range at the top end. The only way they reach into $8m territory is if they both just boom next season somehow which is unlikely - maintaining or small growth, sure, but not a Marner level jump. Neither are as good. - L_B_R
Agreed, I think if Debrincat puts up another season like he just did, he will get more than 6 million. His closest comp is Saad, and let's face it, points get dollars.
My guess for Cat is 6 years at 7.2 m per.
I think Strome is more likely to sign a shorter deal to build his resume further, he only has 3/4 of a good season under his belt, which is nothing. Even if he puts up 70 points this year, that doesn't warrant a big commitment, especially with Dach coming. I would guess 3 years, 6 million bridge. |

Forgot about him honestly. But yes, Entwistle's in that group that tops out at 3C. - L_B_R
He could be a good 3C too as he plays the right game with the right attitude.

Agreed, Cat is lined up to get more than Strome. But what do you define as big money and term for Cat’s next contract? - Chief4Feathers
If he hits 30+ goals then I see him in the 7-7.2 range.
If he hits close to 40+ goals then I see him in the 7.6-7.8 range.

We can get him back to fill the unnecessary penalty taker on the 4th line |

I know the rumor was Hillman wasn’t getting a QO, do we have anything official on that yet? |

Tyler, is he one you didnt predict would be retained? - glennjpawlak22
I thought he would be retained.
Honestly, thought he had a good enough college career and had the Ian Mitchell pairing thing going for him.
He didn't have a good first pro season though in Rockford so can't be too surprised.

Stan should target Cedric Paquette out of Tampa. I know that Tampa put a QO on him, but he'd certainly be an upgrade over Kampf as a PK specialists who can win draws and play against top people. |

I’m trying to see if we have it from the Blackhawks yet. Cap friendly has him listed as an RFA. But Dano and Hartman are listed as UFA’s. |

LBR put together a pretty convincing statistical analysis on the merits of both players, particularly Reeves. She’s a big fan. |

Unlike MLB's newly named Injured List, they have to have a real injury that makes the resumption of his career impossible or detrimental to his long-term health; or the cap hit comes right back when he's healthy. - mohel
Maybe they can find a way to transplant some of Hossa's skin onto Seabrook so it attacks him and then they can have him retire on LTIR.

I don't think Strome is going to get an AAV of 6 million a season, even if he plays well this upcoming year. He doesn't have the body of work to warrant that, especially after 2-3 average to below-average cups of coffee with Arizona.
Plus, look at the guy who did sign in that range...William Karlsson, who's done a lot more than Strome. However, seeing how Schmaltz, Brock Nelson, and it's even rumored that Laine might get a bridge deal in that range, I could see locking up Strome for somewhere closer to the 5-6 million range on shorter term, which I would be fine with.

I don’t get it either. I’m sure his corsi retroactive Stats are amazing though. Ugh.
What a joke. Good player. Not a great player. Certainly not a hall of famer. - SteveRain

Did Stan sort of hint Joki staying in Rockford this year too? - PatShart
yeah, I didn't believe the hype......let him percolate and if wins a job, fine, but with young defenders there shouldn't be a rush, built the confidence, not FALSE confidence thy can play and compete against big boys, let them be ABLE to compete against big b boys... |

Some of it depends on where he finishes with points. If he hits 40 goals again he could be looking for a contract similar to Jeff Skinner's. DeBrincat's 76 points last year is 13 more than Skinner has ever had in a season, so the argument that he deserves that or more could be and probably will be made by his agent. |

smaltz was extended with a 7 yr/ 40 mildo contract and has 80 more nhl games than strome...
my guess adb gets extended before strome....for strome this is a show me season; he maybe willing to go for a shorter term ext for less money now or "roll the dice" and get the extension next summer
no way should stanbow give strome a huge 6 yr plus contract now
