Agreed. Pavelski and a 4th line gritty veteran who plays the PK, and this team is ready to roll.

next year the RFA's are Kub, Cagg, Strome, cat Koek, the UFA's Gus and Wedin. Crow.

right now with a spot or so open for a forward and assuming Dahlstrom is in the ROCK
and AA is traded we have about 10 mil in cap space. plus a extra 5 mil from Crow So depending on how we use it and that the next cap will go up by 2mil. Lets say we do Joe P 3 year and 5mil. heavily front loaded and signing bonus loaded. that would mean roughly we would have 12 mil for raises next year for the RFA's. Cagg gets .5, Kubalik lets call .5, keok, .even, that would mean 11 for Cat and stome. if you got Cat to do 7 and strome at 5. that comes out at 10 so you would have a mil left over. so anything over 6 mil next year will be tough on the cap and would require us to move someone out and let Gus and Crow walk and replace them with 1 mil players. cap in 2 years might go up more.

Im also in the "not a bad idea camp" of bringing in Corey Perry for the right price. He could be a great 3rd or 4th line player on the cheap with a whole lot to prove...again. if the price is right.
- frafra

I'm more of the opinion we should keep that Perry campsite away from the Blackhawks house (he can even have his own personal outhouse to himself). His attitude can bring negatives into this team, even cause other teams to target our good players (if he does something stupid to other team's good players).

I've not yet seen any of the "let's get CP" crowd factoring these negatives when evaluating his supposed positives.

Hillman not retained. The Hawks are not offering him a QO as per Powers.

Hey Marko Dano's available. He wasn't qualified by the Jets.

So Frolik would make quite a lot of sense now, huh?

One year left on his deal, PK extraordinaire, former Hawk, and he lit it up at the world’s last month.

Reading can be hard, it's alright.

1) I asked where the $8-9m range people have been throwing around came from. $7m is not $8-9m. I did allow that Debrincat could reach maybe Tarasenko money, which is outside that $6+1m range, but still lower than $8m.

2) I specifically said "their comps are in the $6x6m range, give or take $1m and 1 years." I mean, my math could be off here but I'm pretty sure $7m is within $1m of $6m.

- L_B_R

My point was that if Nylander is a 60 point guy at $7 million, then a 40 goal scorer would be worth $8 mil. Jeff Skinner just got $9 mil. as a 40 goal scorer, si that a good enough comp.?

And my reading is just fine.

Does anybody here think that Anders Lee is a realistic possibility?? Where do they fit his Cap hit given the raises coming to Debrincat (especially) and Strome. Does StanBo plan on going "budget" next year in Goal and saving $4-5mil with Crawford's contract coming off the books? Does he plan on moving Seabrook? Anisimov?

I just don't see the math working out when you factor in at least $12 mil going to Strome and Cat next summer.....

- EnzoD

Trade AA, sign Strome and Cat to semi-reasonable bridge deals, hope that Lankinen is the real deal (and not resign Crow next year), hope Boqvist and/or Beaudin are ready for the show and move one of DeHaan, Murphy, Maata. I am not a proponent of these options. But there are options.

Debrincat's ELC PPG was is so far in a lower range than $8m players. If, as I said in my original comment, he was to really produce more/exceed this next year, it could be higher but currently his comps are normal $6mx6 range (give or take $1m x 1 year).

Skinner is not a comparable to Debrincat because he was a UFA, going by arbitration rules.

I like the concept. But he probably will get more money and term from other contending teams.

Because they are all guys who might maaaybe take a one year deal for the right money, while filling the actual needs of the forward group - grit and tenacity.
- Return of the Roar

Not taking one year deals at this point in their careers. Maybe 2. Probably 3.

Bowman mentions gus isn’t going anywhere in his score interview.

Interesting. Leaves Murphy as really odd man out baring a huge season or massive offensive regression from gus or asking for huge aav.

If they want to add a lee or pavelski have to think neither is taking 1 yr deal so that leaves a trade to open more money for 12/17 next offseason. Or they sign Corey perry. Which I’m not a fan of.

- SteveRain

I listened to the podcast of the interview and didn't hear that comment about Gus. Bowman said "not focused on trading" Keith and Seabrook. No mention of Gus.

Something HAS to be up in Vegas, doesn't it?

Aren't they above the 10% excess even as we speak?

Bet you VGK has multiple offers involving lots of permutations of players and salaries.

There will be no fleecing. Someone will blink and offer up more than the others.
