Thanks all for the info. on the draft prospects.

Colorado clearing space for a run at Panarin. If Florida wins the sweepstakes, wonder if they go back to Duchene?

No but that's any easy misconception to make.

The 40/70 games played qualification is in regards to what players the exposing team are required to expose (this is the prevent an NHL team from not exposing any semi-proven pros), but the players that are eligible just need to have to have 2 years of pro experience in the AHL/NHL prior to the draft (so just have met the 10 game requirement in AHL or NHL).

There were a few players selected by Vegas that never played 40/70 games. For example: Nosek selected from Detroit had only played in 17 NHL games (11 + 6 the prior two seasons), Brickley from Carolina has only played in 23 NHL games (one season), and Leipsic from Toronot had only played in 6 NHL games (one season). They all played enough in the AHL though to become eligible.

I didn't know that. Thanks for clarifying.

Here's a summary of Dach's press conference and PR tours that took place Monday.

Man, the Hawks are really hyping Dach.... The last time they hyped prospects like this it was Toews and Kane..

I got the feeling that Bowman and Co. think they got something really special in Dach - that or they're just pandering to the fans..

Some thought Dach was a reach at #3, and I thought so too but over the last week I'm starting to think the Hawks made the right pick.. Only time will tell tho..

Hopefully he will make the team.. Of course you don't want to rush him, but if he's ready then I look forward to it... I mean he's almost certain to get 8 games in this fall even if he's not ready for full-time NHL duty... With this hype the Hawks are certainly going to want to show him off this fall to the fans...

Well unless Lee looking for a one or two year contract, this goes against what Bowman just said this morning. Also this Pagnotta guy who tweeted this said yesterday that Panarin was meeting with the Hawks, then said he was not meeting with the Hawks. Doesn't sound too reliable to me.

Does anybody here think that Anders Lee is a realistic possibility?? Where do they fit his Cap hit given the raises coming to Debrincat (especially) and Strome. Does StanBo plan on going "budget" next year in Goal and saving $4-5mil with Crawford's contract coming off the books? Does he plan on moving Seabrook? Anisimov?

I just don't see the math working out when you factor in at least $12 mil going to Strome and Cat next summer.....

de Haan on his shoulder: "I’m about five weeks into my rehab. Things are progressing well. I like to think I’m ahead of schedule. ... My main goal is to be ready for camp. I don't want to sit on the sidelines. I want to be on there, grind away, get this team back in the playoffs"

I like the trades. But I also liked Kahun, Forsling and Forsberg. We are acting like these deals are grand theft by Bowman. But if Maatta and DeHaan are oft injured or Kahun, Forsling, and/or Forsberg turn out to be studs it will not be looking so great in a couple of years.

Personally I liked Forsberg more than Delia. Now I am hoping Lankinen vaults over Delia in camp.

Do you think Bowman is targeting players with double "A's" in their name?
Maatta
DeHaan
Saarela

Maybe this kid they drafted at goalie is the real deal in 3 years too???

Nylander is a Oct-March player, not a playoff type player, Zaitsev had one good season and was given that contract, he was horrible last year, you already have a boat anchor contract in Seabs, you add Zaitsev for 5 more years, you have $12 million tied up in at best a #4 (probably 5) and #6 defenseman.

You cant predict what a change of scenery will do to either one of them..

Look at Strome (and Perlini)..

If I proposed the Schmaltz for Strome/Perlini trade a year ago Hawks fans would have laughed at that and said the same thing you're saying now..

Nylander is only 23 and a 70+ point player, perhaps even more if he played on the right line and Zaitsev isn't too shabby either - Zaitsev is exactly the type of defenseman the Hawks could have really used last season (and yes, I'm aware that Zaitsev didn't have that great of a season)..... However Zaitsev is a right handed shot, experienced, a defensive defenseman and he would add excellent depth..

I mean if I were Bowman and I was presented that trade and I knew it wouldn't prevent me from extending DeBrincat and Strome I would do it all day..

I believe it was all Q's fault that he didnt develop into another David Pasternak and that forced Stan to trade him and get an insulting return that a monkey could have done better on.

What do the Hawks do if Debrincat asks for 9M/year? Do they pay him or move him? What if Strome is asking for 7 or 8/year?

If they get Lee I would assume Anisimov is going and then they probably see what happens w Crawford next summer.

Different work, but "perimeter only"

All of the playoff goals need a little grease factor. DeBrincat shows bigger nads to get shots inside the circle than Nylander. Eff no to him

Im also in the "not a bad idea camp" of bringing in Corey Perry for the right price. He could be a great 3rd or 4th line player on the cheap with a whole lot to prove...again. if the price is right.

He got it from Pagnotta, but it sounds like Lee is looking for term, so it’s probably not a fit.

If they want that...hopefully the Hawks collect the picks for those two if some team decides to pay them that

Hawks play 16 back to backs this year. Good opportunities to rest Seabrook IMO.

Im not disagreeing. Tricky situation. Are Cat/Strome worth more than Kane/Toews and what they took for their first deals?

What if Strome is asking for 7 or 8/year?

He can go kiss his agents ass. Not happening. He produced for a 1/2 a season and has 1 full season in the NHL for a total of 108 games. If he puts up 30/70 then he gets a nice bridge deal.

Now ADB puts up 40/90...yep...9 mildo it is...

I think it is getting to the point that the strategy of letting them sign elsewhere, and taking the compensation is going to be a move some GMs are going to have to take.

RFAs are now holding teams ramson (Leafs) and putting them in CAP Hell. GMs will have to let some sit out or move them out. It is the only way to get a hold on your financial structure and send the message that you won't be walked over.
