That depends also on if they plan on putting daHaan on LTIR after day 1. In order to maximize the cap savings for possible deadline deals they would need to be as close to the cap on day 1 as possible. - LAHawk
Presumably, de Haan would be back by the TDL.

Seems like a quiet day today around the league. Maybe everyone is concentrating on their RFA signings. Heard anything else, Tyler? - boilermaker100
Where are you?
It's only 9AM here in Chicago - 10AM in NYC - 7 AM on the West Coast.

Hey Brooks Orpik retired. That's something.
Also, yes... all focus on RFAs right now. - Tyler Cameron

Don’t count Dach out from sticking for the regular season with the Hawks.
At minimum, he gets the 9 game regular season try out. He can always go back to Junior if doesn’t impress in the 1st 9.
Kid sounds and handles himself off ice like a professional. And the stories about his compete level are very promising. - scottak
He'll compete for a spot 100%. He'll be close either way.
Keep an eye put if he joins a game or two in the Chicago Pro League this summer. Dach spoke about pace and you won't find out what that is until you play with NHLers. While it's a lesser, lighter skating league, it would be good exposure to Chicago and to a lot of NHLers.
Also, if the Hawks move Anisimov, keep an eye on whether they sign or trade for another C.
It might give indication of what they are thinking for Dach.
A lot will unfold throughout the summer. |

I wouldn't be surprised to see Seabrook on LTIR at some point during the season. - LAHawk
Unlike MLB's newly named Injured List, they have to have a real injury that makes the resumption of his career impossible or detrimental to his long-term health; or the cap hit comes right back when he's healthy. |

If the Hawks do sign a goalie, it will be a veteran (Ward), that can come in if CC gets injured. As much as I would love to give Darling a second chance, to sign him to possibly take playing time away from Delia/Lankinen in the Rock is not a good idea IMO. - LAHawk
on of those 2 are going to be the backup in Chi. They need to see what they have at the NHL level so they can plan for 2020. I think the plan is to go with 2 cheap goalies if they think they can get Replacement level tending.
I would do Craw and Delia in Chi and Lankan #1 and Darling # 2 in Rockford. I think darling needs to work on himself personally so I don't think they need him starting 40 games.
my thought is it only costs rocky $ and if darling can get back to close of what he was 3 years ago he would be a steal in 2020 at $650k and give you extra cash for Cat, trome and kubalik(if he has a good year)
Ward type guys are not any better the delia or lanken at there best and are terrible at there worst. I think most people are listening to eddie O to much Ward was terrible last year and if you look at his numbers it was pretty predictable. He has not been below replacement level since 2012

This is key. While Anisimov does a lot of good things on both ends, he's not physical enough and doesn't win draws consistently. They need to fix that. Sure Kampf was excellent on draws his rookie season but he regressed last year. Can't go in relying on him to bounce back. If he does, great but I think they need to get a more proven guy. Someone who may be worth exploring on the cheap is Valterri Filpulla. Career 51% FO guy and coming off a strong year for the Islanders with 17 goals as a third line center. Can play in every situation. Might not be physical enough but I like his ability to win draws. |

So if he does stick at the NHL level, 3rd pick in the draft, i believe he'll be eligible for a $3 million performance bonus? I believe the team can count it against next year's cap but i prefer they leave a little cap cushion for this and next year. |

Good call. For the right $/term, he’d be a solid candidate for that role. |

Not sold on Delia, did not play well after the first week he was brought up. I feel he could be Chicago's version of Garrett Sparks. |

After this season, Seabs will have collected 35.5M of his 55M total contract value. I believe he can voluntarily retire any time and not cause a cap penalty. But would he (and anybody else) walk away from almost $20M? And the Hawks aren't going to pay him $7 a year as an advisor or assistant coach. - boilermaker100
yes he can...cap recapture penalty was for pre 2013 long term contracts...
like you i doubt he retires... |

Toronto isn't going to trade Hyman. They are paying him $2.2 mil. and plays in the top 6, one of the few guys they have that gets his nose dirty. If they have to dump more, they will move Kadri at $4.3 mil. - LAHawk
It is a hockey trade...need for need. We need a guy like Hyman. They need a young cost controlled defenseman. Makes sense in my Armchair GM world... |

Seabrook isnt retiring early to become a coach
Nor is he going to fake an injury to walk away.
What, based on his character that he has shown through his career, tells anyone that he would fake an injury to simply walk away from a game he has dedicated his whole life to?
If the Hawks want to get rid of him, they will have to buy him out, or have him agree to a trade he and his family will want to move to. And to a team willing to trade for him. Those are the only 2 scenarios.

He was solid for the first few weeks but also had a poopty defense in front of him. Jury is still out imo and same on Strome.
Will they really allow JC to deploy a man defense or will Scotty thwart that plan? Can’t see man working in the new era where even the grinders are blazing fast. |

Depends what AAV either wants. Hawks might have $5-6 mil after RFA’s are signed. |
