I expect at minimum AA to be dealt after July 1st. That would give us roughly 15 mil or so to land some more talent.
- gifman

Yeah I also think saad gets moved along with Gus or Seabrook in any trade.

I just can't see Stan paying Seabrook that kind of money to be a bench warmer.

Do NOT trade Gustafsson! Do NOT!

This guy is so unappreciated by Hawks fans. I can’t believe it. Will be a future top two defensman.

- PetterKane

Call me crazy, but I prefer my top pairing D-men to be able to actually play D.

Looking at capfriendly.com I noticed if nothing changes from now till next year with the exception of signing our RFA and maybe bringing up some people from Rockford, we will have 23 mil in cap space at the current 81.5 mil ceiling.

Craw comes off the books but we do have Strome, Cat and Drake to resign, so we should have the money to sign them to at least bridge deals, till 88 and 19 and Seabrook gets bought out when we get a compliance buyout after the new CBA.

So I think we can land a high end winger like Pavelski or Kessel, maybe both

You've already added some talent with the two dmen. They still need most of that money to use next year to sign 12 and 17.

I could see a depth signing but if there's anything significant added at fwd it will likely come through trade. Still don't see Stan throwing wads of money at guys in FA and hope he doesn't.

I agree with your point. My question is who does Chicago acquire to fill the 3c role ? Dach isn't the answer as of now maybe down the road.

For sure. I also see Strome, Cat, Toews, Caggiula, Kampf, Sikura, Kane, Kubalik, Dach, Keith, Murphy, and Joker changing addresses too.

Not sure I am thrilled to be trading for Damaged goods ,must have faith the HAWKS Doctors did their due diligence on De Haan Shoulder . Nice little family reunion for Saarela brothers ,what's next a Vlasic deal . I do think Saarela maybe a solid prospect . Not sure either Frosberg or Frosling will work out or not, both decent players . Wish them both well .
- oldduffman

For all those stressing about the injury to DeHaan, remember, Forsling would be considered damaged goods as well.

AA could be the guy, or they could acquire one in trade. I've seen some people suggest Dach, if he were to make the Big Club out of camp, maybe he does so on the wing, which isn't unreasonable.

Depends on if the Hawks are already on his NTC list. The limited 8-10 team list is why Sharp's return was pretty weak and mostly salary for salary - Dallas was the only team on his list that gave even a halfway decent offer. Kessel is not going to bring in his value, if they end up moving him.
- L_B_R

Obviously you missed all the insider reports that Stan had lots of options to move Sharp and got taken to the woodshed with the one he chose

Why does Florida want to give up a 25 year old top pairing quality d-man? He's worth more than a 1st + Dahlstrom + taking on Seabrook. Matheson played more at 5v5 than Ekblad, only about a minute less overall than Yandle, and is excellent on the PK. Him being signed for a while is what is good about his deal from Florida's perspective.

On top of that, taking on Seabrook's cap hit is undesirable if they're trying to save money for Bob + potentially Panarin.

- L_B_R

I know Bob is targeted for Sunrise - but then why did they take Knight in the first round Friday night?

Certainly five years away, and perhaps they’re thinking Bob’s eventual replacement, but Dale and Q must be going for gold now or soon - wouldn’t a skating pick - closer to being ready for prime time - have been a better choice?

Dach IMO I think chicago has not planned for him next season to play on the team but will give him every chance to earn a spot but if he does your correct he starts out on the wing.

I do think anisomov gets moved. My guess is saad getting moved is more so a even swap

It's a well known fact. I read it here and it was reported on by the former blogger who got his info from a source beyond question (paulr/the ether?) that Stan punted when given the option of two second rounders and $5.9M in Cap Space for the 33 yo downward trending winger.

I'm sure folks on the Habs board at this time last year said the same thing about Kotkaniemi.

Not saying he will or won't, but could we let him play in at least one practice or preseason game before making a definitive statement one way or the other.

I'm telling you the way they are acting with him, I believe they feel he can.

How come - with a lot of talk about moving Murphy, Seabrook (unlikely), Gus to make room for Maatta and DeHaan - no talk about moving Koekkoek and / or Dahlbeck? Not sure I see a role here for either (after deHaan gets back).

They would have to reacquire him first and then trade him.

Assuming you mean Dahlstrom and not Dahlbeck?

I don't think Dahlstrom or KuKU are around unless its as a 7D long term.

Even if he would “make” the team out of camp - would that be best for his development and future - or the team’s?

I think in his case there is an argument to be made. I normally push the longer development path.

Buts he's now played in the WHL for 3 years. At his size, playing against boys, he'll dominate. Just not sure it is of any benefit or will help his development.

They are pushing him big time, more than anyone since Kane. If I remember correctly, Kane never went back to the minors, and he was no where as physically mature as Dach is now.

I'm just thinking they believe being with the big club, with the vets here, is better for his development than being in WHL
