Puljujarvi has not lived up to the hype obviously. does that mean we should close the door on him? hell no. at the end of the day, he is the highest reward move we could make this offseason. you cannot get guys with his potential in today's league for cheap. plenty of young guys in this league have a ton of potential based on where they are drafted, but never live up to the hype. Pouliot is pretty much the only guy in the 2012 first round that is not contributing in the NHL today. we passed on guys like Forsberg & Trouba to take him. end of the day, he didnt work out in this league, and Puljujarvi might be the same way, but to me, the Penguins need a high reward/low risk guy. I'd prefer if it wouldnt be rust, but if you can get Edmonton to take Johnson or have them throw in a pick, I'd do it in a second. |

I think JJ should pull a Hossa and get allergic to his hockey pads real quick so we can LTIR his ass |

The realistic guy I would have loved the Penguins to target is Zuccarello. Guy is a gamer, great speed, a good top 6 RWer... the talks with Dallas seem to be focused on a 3-4 year deal, average salary of $4.15M-$4.75M, but he will hit FA to test the market.
Gawd that would be a sweet deal. Anything 3-4 years and under $5M would be great for a team to grab him. |

I could be wrong about that. Could be the full cap hit less the league minimum plus $375,000. So I think we would save a little over a million, but I could be wrong about that - WSCTeton17
Right or wrong was less important, giving proper credit for the info was important to me.

Not to piss on your cheerios, but there's no realistic targets until the Pens clear some salaries. |

Worst comes to worst you bury him in the AHL and save some money there. Maybe buy him out next year or the year after |

I just might the Coyotes prospects and holy smokes these guys are so young. I asked one kid where he was playing next year and he says “here” and I have him a blank stare because I’d never heard of him and he goes “well, not here... Tucson” lol. Still good hockey obviously!
Seriously though, most promising prospect what the girl who escorted me up. Yowza was she cute |

People saying we haven’t gotten any better: have you forgotten how we started the year? Murray has since cemented himself as a starter in my eyes (he faltered big time to start the year which is exactly why I didn’t take him infantasy!), we have 5 serviceable D men, we brought in players with upside in McCann Bjugstad Kahun. Remember when Brassard was our 3C?! Dude was so invisible and was not doing his linemates any favors, I recall Horny playing with him often early on. Blueger is an improvement over Cullen.
To call our playoffs a joke is entirely accurate. To say that our roster is worse off than it was at the start of last season is way off course IMO. Hopefully the tinkering isn’t done and we can stay healthy and play as a team - WSCTeton17

I don't think this is a good comparable. Schultz was producing well offensively for EDM, so he was at least doing something well. Puljujarvi has been pretty bad all-around. - Rinosaur
False. He actually isn't terrible as a player. Rumors out of Edmonton is he was injured early in the season and played through an injury which killed his stats. One year prior he had 12 goals. The kid has an incredible slap shot. He also has speed to Skate with McDavid on the rush and had shown that one year prior. He just has some problems with immaturity. Maybe we could do a deal JJ and Rust for Kris Russell and Puljujarvi. I think he would play extremely well with Malkin, Crosby, or even Bjugstad. |

I thought about inserting Russell on a possible Puljujarvi for Rust trade but couldn’t do it not knowing if he’s any improvement from Jacko.
The Penguins should call Edmonton about this Rust deal. I bet they could think about taking on Gudbranson as well. Good ol’ Western canadian Type of hockey. |

Maybe now that he has number back he might adjust to the system better. Could be a breakthrough season. |

I think Stralman for cheap on the 3rd pair would be great....obviously never going to happen but I think with 3rd pair mins and PK time he'd help the Pens.
