That is lacy and his system. Unfortunately Lavy has a shelf life and seems to be unable to modify his approach. He loses a lot of match ups to other coaches who are good at the strategic side of the game.
Lavy's system requires his D to shoot and score more often. He has always been like that, imo

Arvy was a Mid-rounder too, so it's hard to even count him. Poile lucked out that Arvy's turned to be as good as he is. Doubt he looked at that guy in the fourth round and said he's going to be a future 30 goal scorer and the heart and soul of this team one day. Hartnell is really the only guy I can think of that David's drafted high that rounded out to be a consistent top six forward in his prime.
