VP of Amateur Scouting Mark Kelley says that Dach sat at the #Blackhawks draft table on Day 2 and was giving off-the-cuff scouting reports on the picks. Says it speaks to his incredible hockey knowledge.

That’s the one piece we don’t get to see from a fans perspective. The players overall commitment to the game and intelligence. Dach sounds a lot like Toews. |

If Crawford is healthy I’d bring him back, but I’d go one year at a time. It wouldn’t be as cheap as people think, likely $4-$5 million. - DarthKane
I am cool with CC still getting 6M so long as it is on a one year deal. |

But the Hawks haven't improved either, and all those teams were playoff teams.
STL just won the cup DAL had a deep run, COL has lots of money to spend and just gained valuable playoff experience as well - PatShart
That's my point above, which BH team do you believe? the one that was Lose for Hughes, or the one that was on a playoff pace later in the season.

So another team would have taken Byram at 3 (not Dach) - Z3Hawk
If you asked all the NHL GMs who they’d have taken 3rd, with Hughes and Kakko off the board, you’d probably get a half dozen different answers. Hopefully Stan made the correct choice. From what I’ve seen and heard about Kirby Dach, I’m very happy. |

Got my team posted on cap friendly. A couple of trades, no big free agent signings, Dach at 3LW for a year, and 7.6M in cap space going into next year.
Tyler, what's first prize?

my guess is the only way he comes back is on a 1 year deal much cheaper then 6mil. look at the last 2 years. also need his money to sign CAT and Strome. |

Marner is the Leafs best player. The last two seasons the Bruins didn't have the Bergeron line out checking Matthews, they were out checking Marner. Not only does Marner put up good scoring numbers but he's also the best Leaf penalty killer and he's on the ice for the last minutes of any close game regardless if the Leafs need a goal or are protecting one. - paulr
Do you think he's worth 11 AAV |

Lost in the Hawks dismal season...and the horrendous defense....is that they were 8th in the league in scoring!!!
Some personnal tweaks, a better defensive system...and things can turn around pretty quick.
Couple seasons ago dallas was a hot mess on defense. Now, pretyy darn decent. The Isles went from dead-last to first I believe.
As ugly as it was to watch. It CAN be fixed. The Hawks CAN be a playoff time next year....but will they get the one or two bodies they need....and will the TEAM buy in to a defense-first team strategy |

I’d be surprised if Anisimov was on the team when the season starts. I don’t have any issues with AA, he’s better than most think, but I expect he’ll be dealt for a couple mid-round picks.
I wonder if Gus would accept a Ghostibehere type deal, just with less term.
I expect Stan knows he’s on the hot seat, another lost season and his job is in jeopardy. He’ll be smart but he needs to be aggressive. - DarthKane
I really think he's got one more year. He's really done some nice things since the Hawks tanked 2 seasons ago.
Curious to see this team with a full summer and preseason in JCs system.
If Maata is an upgrade over Murphy, I'll really like this trade
Hopefully Dach and Vlasic are the real deal, go along with Strome, Cat, Saad, hopefully Joki takes the next step |

It's my understanding that there is zero truth to the rumour that the Vancouver Canucks had serious conversations with the Chicago Blackhawks about a move to No. 3 overall, much less a conversation that involved Brent Seabrook. |

I may be in the minority with this, but I would prefer for Seabrook to stay and the Hawks find a way for him to play effectively. - DarthKane
I agree with you. There must be a way to do this. |

Blackhawks plans
My sense is the Blackhawks don’t plan on a lot of UFA action early this week but that could change later in the week. A source suggested the Hawks are more focused on trades early this week. And I think part of that is that the term it’s going to take to sign most UFAs on the market isn’t terribly appealing to a Chicago team that has a good cap situation. A year from now, the Hawks don’t want to be in a position to have to shed assets just to sign their RFAs. So for now it’s about trades where there are players out there with shorter terms left on their contracts. But obviously, if that doesn’t work out, the UFA market will also come into play.
Tyler good for nail it and it makes sense stupid money will be thrown around to players that just ok Rousell and beagle come to mine. Hayes this year 7 million for a 40 to 50pt player ouch phily will regret that contract down the road. Small ufa's signings to add toughness pk help and forechecking help tanev copp if not qualified and Acciaria would the type of players I be looking at in free agency. Vegas Tampa Arz San jose Washington etc.. are teams Chicago should be trading with. Should be a fun week hopefully something happens today whether a legit rumors or trade some info would be nice for discussions.

Who has two thumbs that has been saying the Hawks are focusing more on trades than UFAs for weeks now?! "THIS GUY" ... oh damn... you can't see me pointing at myself.

Not too surprising to hear it denied as there is often more smoke than actual fire when it comes to NHL rumors. |

Sounds like it....No clue how they have 3 AAVs over 10+
I do love when Toronto just implodes. I hope somebody throws a 12 AAV and 7 years at Marner and they cut live to Babcock and see that arrogance @ss hat head explode. |

The Sharks already traded away a defenseman by sending Justin Braun to the Philadelphia Flyer last week for two draft picks. On Saturday, the Ottawa Sun‘s Bruce Garrioch reported they’re shopping Dillon. The Athletic’s Kevin Kurz confirmed the report.
Dillon, 28, is a physical blueliner whose style of play should attract interest from clubs looking for defensive grit. Shedding his $3.27-million cap hit for next season would provide the Sharks with additional dollars to re-sign captain Joe Pavelski.

Do you think he's worth 11 AAV - SteveRain
You have this uncanny ability to move the goalposts. Your point was Marner isn't a great player.
Is Marner worth $11M? Is any sports figure worth more money in one season than a teacher, Cop, nurse and some Doctors make in a lifetime? Different debate for a different day. In the context of the NHL, I think factoring in age, Marner is one of the top 5 to 10 players right now. After 3 seasons, Marner has the same trajectory in terms of scoring as Patrick Kane plus he was better defensively as a rookie than Kane has ever been. Matthews just signed for $11.6M a season with that as the benchmark Marner is worth $11.7. |
