If Dach makes the team, it won't be for the 4th line.

He will play 3C or in the top 9 as a winger IMO.

If not, back to Saskatoon he goes for another year in the WHL. He's already spent 3 years there though, so me thinks the Hawks are banking on him being a Blackhawk next year.

- Tyler Cameron

While saying the canned responses about giving players time it certainly seems like they expect him to make the team. Of the prospects they could pick from he strikes me as one that probably doesn't have too much more to learn at the junior level. My guess is he lands on Toews wing to start or playing C with someone like Saad/Kubalik to play with.

I don’t get the obsession with hometowns and players wanting to play in/near them
I personally dislike mine, and avoid going back in possible...

Don’t want to be negativ and I’m exited for the upcomming season, but I don’t like the argument of drafting for size in the first round. Remember that they are just 18 years old and in my opinion hockey IQ should be A and O. I hope the size of Dach wasn’t the deciding factor.

do we have the ability to buy out any more contracts? i thought each team was allowed two buyouts and we used both a few years ago? im probably wrong - who can correct me
- glennjpawlak22

Those were two compliance buyouts afforded when the new CBA went into effect. They did not count against a team’s cap if executed. Teams can buyout a contract during a specified window of time during the off-season without restriction - but they count against the cap based upon a formula of remaining contract years, money still owed and age of the player.

Does Stan make the inquiry with Panarin, or not even interested ?

While I think everything is a factor the Hawks talked about how much they like the overall game of Dach. What I like hearing is how he is considered to have good vision and passing skill, which compliments someone with size who can protect the puck but then see a play and make a pass. Might be another guy who can fit well with a trigger man like DeBrincat... if Strome is out or struggling or prices himself out of town.

Maybe, but my guess is no. Panarin is awesome but not what the team needs. Plus it muddies that salary cap waters. My guess is that Stan wants to improve the team’s overall depth, not add another $10+ million forward.

Is the AHL an option or do the rules prevent that the only options are the nhl or juniors?

Stan is forward thinking.

There have been reports Panarin was none to thrilled to take a bridge deal to help the Hawks only to be traded to Columbus 6 months later. I don't see it happening.

NO clue on Dach…..all you can do is hope for the best and keep an eye on the guys Bowman passed up. Im sure they will pimp this kid to death and why not? #3 picks are supposed to give you a LT solution.

Seabrook to Vancouver....not surprising the talk happened, and not surprising Vancouver said no. Just an albatross of a deal and I'll bet $$ he'll be on LTIR before that deal is over.

Next 7 days are big to see if Bowman goes trade route, and who is looking at to get parameters for a potential deal with an UFA to make it work short term and long term.

Deals those kids signed in Toronto are very cheap.....Hawks should push to see if Strome will sign it now.

As expected. Stan wouldn't have mentioned that unless they were close on a deal.

I would expect a 2 year deal within the $1.7M-2.2M range AAV.

- Tyler Cameron

That is a bit too rich. I would offer more than his qualifying number for a couple of years but nothing close to $2M.

The NHL and the CHL (juniors) have an agreement where CHL players can’t play in the AHL until 20yrs of age (season in which the player turns 20). So for the majority of drafted CHL players - it’s either the NHL or the CHL.

Meh! The team had an awful post goal song, their President meddled, their GM sucks, Q was an imbecile, the team didn't hit and had no one to fight, and you're happy with a Stanley cup? What's wrong with you?!?!?

Hawks should go balls to the wall for Anders Lee who gets goals in front of the net with deflections and screens is exactly what we need alongside Toews and Kane. He can also play some center if needed. Versatile forward with size. Sold.

THIS.

@JamesCybulski

Heard over the weekend that #Canucks & #Blackhawks had discussed swapping the 3rd and 10th overall picks so Vancouver could jump up to get Bowen Byram, but Chicago wanted Van to take D Brent Seabrook and the remaining 5 years/$6.875M AAV on his contract. Thus the deal died.

- Tyler Cameron

Nice idea. Tells us two things. One, the Hawks weren't really interested in trading down - that's not something they really expected to hear "yes" on. Second, the price to trade Seabs will be enenormous.

BUT...my favorite playoff memory of recent times is the Nashville miricle (2010, I believe?),

Hawks down a goal. Hossa takes a 5 minute major. All hopes are dashed. Last seconds of the 3rd.....goalie pulled....Kanes scores to tie it up!!!!
But, Hossa still serving the major as we head to OT. Hawks kill the remaining couple of minutes of the PP in overtime and Hossa comes out of the box. Puck cycled low behind the Pred net....goes back to the point....across ice to Hossa on the doorstep. BOOM!!! Hawks win!!!!

It was the pivotal turning point in winning the Cup.

Lose that game, likely lose series...and no Cup. Whatta sequence of events!!!!

I have watched it soooo often I couldn't even count!!

Anders Lee and Tanev would change the forward group significantly. Some how add another legit blue liner, this team could be something.

I really hope they don't keep him past the 9 game tryout. I worry that he'll play well for the first 15-20 games, and then get into a slump. The problem is that the only option the Hawks will have is to press box him, or to let him play through it. IMO, either option could really stunt his development.

Got my team posted on cap friendly. A couple of trades, no big free agent signings, Dach at 3LW for a year, and 7.6M in cap space going into next year.

Tyler, what's first prize?

Sounds like a lot for a skater who had only two good weeks last season....
