So what’s the matter with this?

Was forsberg going anywhere here? NO
Was Forsling? NO

He didn’t give up anyone off the active roster and acquired a decent depth f prospect.

I see zero problems with this. DeHaan can block shots and protect his end. Now everyone’s new whipping boy maata can play even less minutes.

Sarcasm eludes you.

Also, what's the fascination with shot blocking?

4th line grinders and PK specialists.

Hawks fix their PK, they are a completely different team as far as standings.

- vabeachbear

Yep. That's exactly what I expect.

Any d-man that's moved will be for that top-six forward they'd like to add.

Then one or two grinder/specialists and a veteran GK on July 1.

I like the trade, but I am trying to understand it from Carolina's perspective. Do they think they can develop Forsling into a possible second pair caliber D? And do they think Forsberg can become serviceable? They seem to have cap space now. About $25 mill left to fill 8 spots on the roster. Maybe they did it for cap space, but they usually aren't ones to go up against the limit.

I’m not so sure anyone is moving from this blueline. Think the plan is to have quality depth plus de Haan is out til December. I like the pairings and think they’ll keep looking for ways to improve the club via trades as Stan said. UFA prices are too crazy thus far.
- Assman22

You think they will carry nine defensemen (assuming Joki makes the team) ?

My only problem with this is the shoulder injury and surgery.

Didn’t I read that it wasn’t his first?

This is Carolina's way of reciprocating for the TT trade
- TommyHawk

I thought they did that with the Darling trade.

Nobody wants Faulk, that's the problem. Plus they made that stupid trade for Marleau.

So they got one of their guys, which forward do you think they get?
- SoftServe

Anders Lee would be an unbelievable get, but he may be too costly.

Shot blocking is the new face punching, it shows masculinity.

If they move AA for a pick or prospect, they could squeeze him in. Really just need a top 6 wing, re-sign the RFA’s, and the team is set. Dach is starting in Chicago game 1. No way they send him back to Saskatoon for yet another season there imo.

Gus and Seabrook to Florida with Kane as the sweetener = Glorious cap space.

Well spoken young man
- BetweenTheDots

His maturity belies his age. What I have noticed about him is that he's very cerebral and poised. I wouldn't be surprised to see him make the big club out of camp even though it might not be In the best interest of his development.

I am not saying it doesn't have value but I sure don't want a group that leads the league in blocking shots. Odds are you are spending too much time in your own zone.

According to this link; https://www.foxsports.com...n-de-haan-player-injuries

He’s had 4 upper body injuries. 3 of them were in the same year and probably resulted in the surgery he had. So basically he has only 2 shoulder injuries.
