With the additions of Maata and DeHaan, and the subtraction of Forsling, what's the current cap space look like?
IMO, some other D-man will probably need to go, correct? Getting crowded back there. - tompo1015

Tell me about the minor league forward they got from Carolina - mrpaulish
Plays left wing, Finnish, 5’10 200lbs. 3rd round pick a few years ago. 2 seasons in the A so far. 54 pts in 69 games last year and +18 |

Koekkoek and Dahlstrom were both just re-signed but both of them have AAV less than $950K so they wouldn't count against the cap if they were sent to Rockford. However, both of them would have to pass through waivers to be sent down.
Right now, I see the d-lineup as:
Keith-Jokiharju
DeHaan-Murphy
Maatta-Gustafsson
Dahlstrom/Koekkoek/Seabrook

Now I'm a little more annoyed they picked up Maatta for Kahun. There's no need for him if they were able to get De Haan for Forsberg+Forsling. Would have prefered:
Keith-Jokiharju
De Haan-Murphy
Gus-Seabrook
No need for Maatta. - L_B_R
Is Florida taking a defender off our hands?
Or is Gus going?
...and if DeHaan takes six months, that doesn't count the game day shape...
Or do they just let them fight it out and this is our top seven? |

The Canes are one of the few teams that have the 4 (own) 1st round picks to tender a big offer sheet. They are either shedding salary to go UFA big time or going to offer sheet Mitch Marner. |

Totally Agree LBR.....I didn't want
Maata and I didn't want to lose Kahun. We'll see how that works out down the road. ....but nice move stealing deHaan and another young center.

Really came on later in the season, and was a big contributor to their Calder Cup run. Got nine minutes in an emergency NHL callup vs. Caps. Lots of scoring ability. Size and two way play are the development areas. |

I hope not - he was quite strong defensively last season. Partnered with say De Haan and they could actually be a more shutdown type of pairing. - L_B_R
Very very very nice expected GF and GA , and most of that was earned on a bad defensive NYI club. https://www.hockey-refere.../players/d/dehaaca01.html

Yes, there is. They need someone on the back-end that can push the pace. Unless you want to like the likes of Maatta, de Haan or Keith man the top of the PP. Cause I really don't. Joki could do it but would prefer he gains a little experience manning PP2 for a time. That is, if they don't trade Joki. Which I hope they don't. |

Very nice pairings and possibly a real shutdown pairing in De Haan and Murphy with De Haan replacing Dahlstrom in that role from last yr.

Don't sleep on the Aleksi Saarela pickup as well. De Haan is the key but a nice job getting this guy included as well; he's got some nice skill that can help Rockford out and possibly get a callup to CHI at some point.
So good that CHI just drafted his younger brother on Saturday as well. |

Gus still is a lotto chip for someone with anemic backend. Lots of teams would like him as 6D if only for the PP |

Dehaan and Sarrella for Forsling and Forsberg - KMFDMLight
I question the timing of this trade. Did Stan really need to pull the trigger today, he could have waited and gave up less to get De Haan. #anotherbowmanfail |

Crazy talk just for the heck of it.....
Is there any thought that KEITH could be the LD moved? As in, his cap his reasonable and he is still effective, albeit not in top form.
Is it worth even considering what caliber of F the Hawks could get in return? |

Defense and PK are much, much, much more important in winning hockey games. Hawks won some Cups with pretty mediocre PPs. |

With Forsberg gone, does this mean the Hawks are considering bringing Ivan Nalimov over now? Or does it mean that Hawks might be looking at bringing in a veteran backup to duke it out with Delia in training camp? |

Would not be at all shocked if Q and Tallon got in touch and gave him some things to think about this summer.

Just went back a page and saw that you guys brought up Nalimov as well.
I mean, Forsberg was likely to be shipped out regardless but maybe now the Russian tender is ready to come over to compete for a spot.
We'll see. More moves to come for sure. |

I don't think this changes anything. I think Forsberg was on his way out anyway this offseason. |

What about Nalimov's career to dates says he is ready to compete for a spot right now? No experience playing in NA. His numbers are pretty pedestrian in the KHL. Maybe eventually but as of now, he sure doesn't look like a viable option. |
